Getting worse. Still going to bed around 9pm each night. Best moment of the Week: Going shopping for our baby boy! Baby J is blessed to have such excited and generous grandmas (and grandpas)! He’ll be spoiled rotten! Movement: Still nothing. The sweetest sound!

When I was seven weeks pregnant, I bought a fetal doppler on the internet for $25. I knew it wasn't supposed to work until week 10 or so, but I just couldn't wait and thought we would get lucky!  So we tried, and tried, and tried every week in hopes to find the baby's heartbeat.  We saw the heartbeat at our first ultrasound at six weeks, heard it at another doctors appointment at 8 weeks, but it was still special to finally find it at home at 12 weeks.  If it's a long time between ultrasounds, I always find reassurance that our little one is growing and thriving inside me, just by listening to his heartbeat.  I recorded this video tonight, at 16 weeks, 3 days.  Some days I still can't believe that I'm growing life inside of me, so surreal. But there it is, his little heart thumping away...the sweetest sound for two mamas who can't wait to hold their little miracle! Als ich sieben Wochen schwanger war, kaufte ich einen "Fetal Doppler...

Week 15

November 16th, 2013 How far along: 15 weeks Baby is the size of an: Apple Total weight gain: I went to a blood draw this week and they weighed me after I told them I had gained 5lbs last week. According to their scale, I haven’t gained a single pound since my last visit there three weeks ago. The nurse said not to trust those digital scales I have at home, so I’m just going to go with that for now! Maternity Clothes? Still a mix of both maternity pants and regular pants (unbottoned). Stretch Marks? Thankfully not! Sleep? Uncomfortable…I’m just not used on sleeping on my side. I can’t even imagine how uncomfortable I’m going to be in 5 months! Best moment of the Week: Finding out that we’re having a baby boy and sharing the moment with Katie’s family who came to the ultrasound! We also picked out a nursery color and Katie’s mom volunteered to paint it this week, I couldn’t be more grateful or excited! Movement: Everyone keeps asking me ...

Telling the Grandparents!

Like everything else about this pregnancy, I had planned for a long time on how we were going to tell our families, once the time came. Okay, I didn't plan for the morning sickness and exhaustion, but that's a whole different story. :) We bought presents that we engraved and that were supposed to "spill the beans" a long time ago, like 1.5 years prior, when we were still thinking we would get pregnant within the first month...haha. All of the grandmas received snow globes that said "grandma" and had a personal message engraved on the front, one of Katie's dad got an engraved wine holder and the other one got an engraved desk clock (Our baby is lucky enough to have many sets of grandparents!). We videoptaped everyone while they were opening their gifts and they all kind of reacted the same: Look at the engraving, smile (some a little confused), look at the engraving again and then finally get it and ask "Are you pregnant"? But see for y...

Week 14

November 9th, 2013 How far along: 14 weeks Baby is the size of a: Lemon Total weight gain: 5lbs this week…can this be right? I’m up 11lbs total. Maternity Clothes? I’m wearing some maternity pants and I’m also still trying to make some of my regular pants work, along with the Belli Band. I’m still doing okay with my regular shirts, they’re just getting tighter! Stretch Marks? None yet. Sleep? Going to bed at nine these days! Sleep is okay, but having some really crazy dreams lately. Best moment of the Week: Picking out some stuff for the nursery (haven’t bought anything yet though). Movement: Nothing yet. Food Cravings: None. Belly Button in or out: In. Gender: We’ll find out in just a few days! I couldn’t be more anxious or excited! I feel like this pregnancy will feel much more real after we know if we’re having a boy or a girl! We already have names picked out and I can’t wait to start buying stuff! Symptoms:...

Week 13

November 2nd, 2013 How far along: 13 weeks Baby is the size of a: Peach Total weight gain: 6lbs. Maternity Clothes? My friend Sandi took me shopping this week to get some maternity clothes…so sweet! We bought two pair of maternity jeans and two tops. After wearing the pants for the first time, I have no idea how I can ever go back to regular clothes….they are so comfortable! Stretch Marks? Not yet, but Sandi also bought me some stretchmark cream! :) Sleep? I’ve been using my new pregnancy pillow and it’s been a little better. The bathroom breaks in the middle of the night are annoying though. Best moment of the Week: Moving into our new house and getting maternity clothes! And not to forget, announcing our pregnancy on facebook and the blog! Movement: Nothing yet. Food Cravings: No cravings this week, but still super hungry all day, every day.   Belly Button in or out: In. Gender: The family is already placing...
