Chalkboard

We've had an old picture frame in our garage for the last 4 years. It never had glass, but I liked the frame and thought we could make a mirror out of it eventually. Of course that never happened and the frame was just laughing in my face each time I pulled into the garage. It finally came to me that I should make it a chalkboard instead, which was one of the easiest projects ever.  I wish I took a "before" picture, but I forgot. It was super easy. I went to Home Depot to have them cut a wooden board for me and painted it with Chalkboard paint after I primed it. I did one coat of primer and two coats of chalkboard paint. I was thinking about priming the frame as well, but got too lazy and simply spray painted one coat over the existing finish, which worked great.  I love it! Wir hatten für die letzten 4 Jahre einen alten Bilderrahmen in unserer Garage. Er hatte nie Glas, aber ich mochte den Rahmen und dachte, wir könnten irgendwann einen Spiegel darau...

Wreaths

I started making wreaths about two years ago. For myself, family and friends. So when Katie told me to sell them on Etsy , I didn't think anyone would ever buy them, but this week, I've spent the last 5 nights making wreaths, since I've had 6 orders in the last 2 weeks. After everything is said and done, I don't make much money, but I love making them! Rene', Katie's mom, told me she would give me a free booth at one of our Shows to sell them, but it'll probably take me a full year to make enough to sell at a Show, and then I would have to find someone to work the booth for me.  I better get started...haha!

Getting it Done!

So, I have a problem with starting too many projects and never finishing them. Well, let me re-phrase, I do finish them... Eventually, but I wish I wouldn’t start new projects before finishing half done ones. It bugs me, but when I get excited about something new I want to do, I don’t have the patience to wait. Right now, my running list of projects that I started and need to finish consists of a knitted sweater (that I started in October by the way), a knitted scarf that I promised someone to have finished by the end of April (let's just agree, that’s definitely not going to happen), a Christmas Wreath for Katie’s mom (I guess I have some time on that) and two pieces of furniture I need to refinish.   That list doesn’t even consist of the dozens of projects I have pinned on pinterest, just waiting for me to get started (and hopefully finish). So a few weeks ago I found this awesome old highchair on craigslist and I was planning to paint it. Knowing me, this would be a project th...

Do-it-yourself!

We lived in this house for over 2.5 years now and ever since we moved in I was on a mission to find something to hang in the half bath downstairs.  Seems easy enough, right? For me, it seemed more like "Mission Impossible".  The problem was, that the previous owners painted the room in a light greenish color and on top of it, they wrote some french sentences on the walls. I always kinda liked it, so we left it the way it was. And by the way, until recently, we were never able to figure out what the french writing said, for all we knew, it could've been something very very bad...haha! Anyway, we started looking at french themed artwork and never found anything that we both liked and finding anything that matched the color of the room didn't make it easier...AT ALL! So when I stumbled upon this felt wreath on pinterest (I'm obsessed with pinterest...if you haven't checked it out yet, go do so, because it's genius, but be aware that it's totally ...

So much to do, so little time...

Can one have too many hobbies?  I remember when I was little and people would ask me what my hobbies were, I had about two things on my list, dancing (competitively) and reading. While I gave up dancing a long time ago, the reading stuck and probably always will. The problem is, with much less time on my hands than I had back then, I find myself interested in so many different things that I don't know when to do it all. It actually came to a point last week where I wanted to start something new - yet again - and I had to tell myself: no, that's too big of a commitment and I need to "conquer" my other hobbies first. I know, this seems so silly, but if I tell you that this new thing I wanted to try was taking piano lessons, you might understand.

Knitting Fool...

I've been doing a lot of this lately... In letzter Zeit habe ich dies sehr oft gemacht... My grandma taught me how to knit and crochet when I was five years old, but I haven't done it in years. I decided to pick it up again and improve my skills and found, that it's like riding a bike... even if you haven't rode your bike in forever, you'll always remember how to do it and pick up right where you left off! I started with some easy projects and knitted a scarf for me and Katie, followed by a crocheted baby blanket. And I'm totally hooked! It is so soothing to me and I'm lo...
