The sweetest sound!

When I was seven weeks pregnant, I bought a fetal doppler on the internet for $25. I knew it wasn't supposed to work until week 10 or so, but I just couldn't wait and thought we would get lucky!
So we tried, and tried, and tried every week in hopes to find the baby's heartbeat.
We saw the heartbeat at our first ultrasound at six weeks, heard it at another doctors appointment at 8 weeks, but it was still special to finally find it at home at 12 weeks.
If it's a long time between ultrasounds, I always find reassurance that our little one is growing and thriving inside me, just by listening to his heartbeat.
I recorded this video tonight, at 16 weeks, 3 days.

Some days I still can't believe that I'm growing life inside of me, so surreal. But there it is, his little heart thumping away...the sweetest sound for two mamas who can't wait to hold their little miracle!

  2. I just had my 16 week midwife appointment and had hoped she would listen to baby's heartbeat, but she didn't :(
Luckily I had a scan at 15 weeks and another one coming this weekend so have seen the heartbeat recently.

I really wanted to buy a Doppler myself, but my partner wasn't too happy as they can cause anxiety when you can't find the heartbeat(yet) as well as wrong reassurance when you can't feel them moving but still hear heartbeat.
But maybe I'll sneakily buy one....

August iPhone dump

A few of my favorite moments from August! Meet the teacher for the boys! I received this picture from Katie's wife, such a sweet bond they have. I'm also loving how his pajamas are inside out...haha. Walter came back to spend a few days with us! We watched him last summer, and the boys kept talking about him, so we were all so excited when his mom asked us to watch him for a few days. Notice Finn pouting. He was upset that Walter "only pays attention to Fox". So many big emotions in such a tiny body. Mr. Cool Guy at his dentist check up and teeth cleaning! I was trying to get some work done in my office, but this guy needed some attention. Finn made a bed for them, so they could sleep together. In the end, no one wanted to sleep there, but he was so happy to cuddle with Walter for a bit. My friend got me some comedy tickets to see "Nurse John", so I invited my two besties, and two of my old classmates, and we had a blast, he was so funny. We even got VIP acc...

May iPhone dump

Some of my favorite moments of May that haven't made it on the blog yet. May has been such an incredible month and I wish I could turn back time and do it all over again. Between graduating from nursing school and all the celebrations that came with that, Fox's 10th birthday, Finn's Kindergarten graduation, and all the sweet little moments in between, it was a month I will never forget.  Kindergarten Homework for this cutie, he is very smart, but hates doing it. This was my favorite view at school, right when you exited the building. This was the place where we met up with friends during breaks, and after every exam, and I wanted to take a picture to remember this special place.  Making paper airplanes has been a new favorite for him. This was two days before I took my final exam, and I probably should've been studying, but having an ice cream date with the boys sounded much more fun. He loves to make us laugh. While Finn and I were getting ready for bed, I asked him to...

Graduation Party

My mother in law Rene' and my friend Allison threw me a graduation brunch the day after I got pinned as a nurse. I love this picture of Patrick. My other (ex) mother in law made this incredible cake for me, she is so talented. My sweet friend Mason. We spent our first year in nursing school together, until he decided to go a different route. We still meet up for brunches and he is also my hairdresser, but I still miss seeing him as much as I used to. It meant a lot to me that he came.  I can't even express how loved I felt on this day. I am one lucky girl to be surrounded by so many amazing friends who have been through it all with me. Ten years of friendship this year! Katie and Christina brought the boys and also attended my party, which I really appreciated. Classmates! I was joking that the next time I will receive this many flowers, it'll be my funeral. I also received so many thoughtful and sweet cards and gifts, I was truly spoiled. It was the perfect ending to an em...
