Katie & Nadine in 2014: Week 4

Day 22 It never gets old to see our little boy on the ultrasound screen! This is a terrible picture, but I'm not complaining...after all, our doctor does every ultrasound for free!  Es wird nie langweilig unseren kleinen Mann auf dem Ultraschall zu sehen. Das Foto ist nicht so berauschend, aber ich will mich nicht beschweren...unser Arzt macht alle unsere Ultraschalluntersuchungen umsonst!  Day 23 I sold another wreath on Etsy! Katie gets so excited when we have to go to Hobby Lobby three days in a row to get more supplies (yeah right!).  Ich habe einen weiteren Kranz auf Etsy verkauft! Katie freut sich immer so, wenn wir drei Tage hintereinander in den Bastelladen muessen, um Materialien zu kaufen (Scherz!).  Day 24 Gorgeous sunrise in our backyard Wunderschoener Sonnenaufgang in unserem Garten Day 25 Finishing our baby registry... Wir haben unsere Baby Registry fertig gestellt... ...followed by a visit to the B...

Week 25

January 25th, 2014 How far along: 25 weeks Baby is the size of a: Cauliflower...dang, when did this happen? Total weight gain: I didn’t weigh myself this week. Maternity Clothes? Nothing new. Still wearing a mix of both. Stretch Marks? Not yet. Sleep? Pretty uncomfortable this week and I know it’s just going to get worse from here on out!   Best moment of the Week: Finishing our baby registry and buying some cute stuff for Baby J! We also celebrated a late Christmas with Katie’s family and our little boy got spoiled! These days, I’m more excited to get presents for him than for myself! :) Movement: Constantly! The kicks are getting stronger and I feel him all day, every day... it feels like he never sleeps! Food Cravings: Nothing unusual.  Belly Button in or out: Still in...I wonder for how much longer! Gender: Sweet baby boy! Our doctor keeps confirming it at every appointment...haha. Sympto...

Week 24

January 18th, 2014 How far along: 24 weeks Baby is the size of an: Ear of Corn Total weight gain: Well, according to my scale, 21lbs, but the scale at the doctor’s office said 15lbs today, so who knows? Maternity Clothes? Nothing new. Stretch Marks? Not yet. Sleep? Getting more uncomfortable. Katie said I moan like I’m in pain in my sleep.  Best moment of the Week: Seeing our boo on the ultrasound today and spending a relaxing weekend in Mexico.  Movement: All the time. We actually saw the kicks from the outside last weekend, which was so weird and special at the same time! While the kicks usually felt like big air bubbles, there were two times where he kicked me so hard that I squirmed in my seat...it was a completely different and more intense feeling! Food Cravings: Nothing unusual.  Belly Button in or out: Still in, but getting more shallow. Gender: Sweet baby boy! Symptoms: Pregnancy Acne,...

Finding out!

We found out that I was pregnant on Friday, August 30th, 2013. My pregnancy bloodtest was scheduled at the fertility clinic for that morning, but I knew I just had to find out the results by myself beforehand, instead of the doctor calling me with the bad news later that afternoon. At least I was sure it would be bad news, after all, that's all we were used to!  I didn't even tell Katie that I bought home pregnancy tests and I didn't tell her that I was going to take the test that morning either, because I had planned to surprise her, just in case we would get a positive result! I woke up at the butt crack of dawn that morning after a restless night, because I was so nervous about finding out. I laid in bed for a while and prayed. My prayers in the past were usually centered around begging God for a baby, but this time, it was different. For the last weeks, I only prayed that God would give me strength, that I trusted in the plan he had for me and if I wasn't pregn...

Nightmare on Elm Street

Katie has been having night terrors for as long as I’ve known her. Let me back up, Katie has had night terrors ever since her dad let her watch "Nightmare on Elm Street" when she was very little.  In the beginning of our relationship, they were relatively harmless; she would jump out of bed in the middle of the night (while she was still dead asleep), turn on all of the lights and claim there were spiders, scorpions or snakes in the bed. At first, I would freak out with her, shake blankets and pillows like a mad woman to find bugs that were non-existent. After a while, I would just tell her to go back to bed and leave me alone, since I got so used to her behavior and knew she was dreaming. The night terrors continued on with nightmares about aliens that were coming down from the ceiling (which turned out to be the red light that was blinking from the smoke detector), or her running down the stairs because Cosie, our dog, was drowning and she needed to save him (w...

Week 23

January 11th, 2014 How far along: 23 weeks Baby is the size of a: Grapefruit Total weight gain: 18lbs Maternity Clothes? Same as last week: A mix of both maternity and regular clothes. I mostly wear maternity pants with a regular shirt. I also have been borrowing clothes from Katie’s side of the closet…I’m trying to make it work as long as I can. Stretch Marks? Not yet. Sleep? Okay. Some days I can make it through the night without getting up. Katie said I have been a bed hog lately…ha! Best moment of the Week: Finally! The first stranger approached me and asked me if I was pregnant…I’ve been waiting for this for so long. 10 minutes later I got asked again by another person. Totally made my day! Movement: All the time now, I feel him almost constantly and it doesn’t even matter if I sit still or not. I’ve noticed that he kicks especially hard when I have my electric blanket on me, I guess he is not a fan of the heat (just like his other ...
