Getting it Done!

So, I have a problem with starting too many projects and never finishing them. Well, let me re-phrase, I do finish them... Eventually, but I wish I wouldn’t start new projects before finishing half done ones. It bugs me, but when I get excited about something new I want to do, I don’t have the patience to wait. Right now, my running list of projects that I started and need to finish consists of a knitted sweater (that I started in October by the way), a knitted scarf that I promised someone to have finished by the end of April (let's just agree, that’s definitely not going to happen), a Christmas Wreath for Katie’s mom (I guess I have some time on that) and two pieces of furniture I need to refinish.   That list doesn’t even consist of the dozens of projects I have pinned on pinterest, just waiting for me to get started (and hopefully finish). So a few weeks ago I found this awesome old highchair on craigslist and I was planning to paint it. Knowing me, this would be a project th...

Champagne Bathroom on a Beer Budget!

We wanted to remodel our bathroom from the moment we moved into our house three years ago. It wasn’t outrageously ugly or anything, but...okay, it was pretty ugly.   The thing was, there was always something else that needed to be done first and if you own a house, you know what I’m talking about.   The Backyard, that was once a field of weeds, needed to be landscaped, the air conditioner needed to get repaired, the washer and dryer were eating our clothes and needed to be replaced, I couldn’t stand to look at our half eaten couches anymore, so we bought new ones, and every time we had enough savings, something else got in the way. Like vet bills or an unforgettable cruise. You know how it is! We had gotten a few bids over a year ago, when we were planning to “start out small” and just get the shower tiled, but with prices close to $8000, we buried our dreams of a new bathroom and decided to shower in the dark, just so we don’t have to look at that ugly plastic cheap ass ...

The Joys of Working Together!

When people find out that Katie and I are working together, it doesn’t take long until they ask, if that’s working out.  You can basically count in your head to three, because you know the question comes up. Every single time. It’s funny to me how some people can’t wrap their head around the fact that living together and working together might be something wonderful, instead of something annoying. We actually started working together only four months after we met, we worked at the same restaurant, her in the lunch shift, me in the night shift, some days our shifts would be the same and since we only had one car at that time, it worked perfect. It wasn’t long after we moved to AZ that we started working together once again. We even shared an office, which, I have to admit, was tough at times. I was hired as a Sales Rep and let’s just face it, I suck at cold calling people, because I get butt hurt every time they hang up on me or are rude. I don’t know how anyone likes working in S...

Working out – Or the Lack of!

I always liked working out. I did it all, the gym memberships, recreational sports, work out videos at home, having an elliptical when I lived in Germany and bought a treadmill a few years ago. I even danced competitively with a group of girls for 13 years when I lived in Germany. I tried to convince Katie for years to join a gym with me, to no avail. Oh boy, how times have changed. I guess it all started with me turning 30. It probably didn’t, but I like to blame it on the fact that I’m 30. I sold my treadmill, after being annoyed to dust it every week without using it in who knows how long. At the beginning of the year Katie and I applied for Life Insurance, which included a huge exam, where they check what health category you fall in, the healthier you are, the cheaper your life insurance is. Our agent told us that we should do everything to be the healthiest we can be, work out a lot and eat healthy. I had really good intentions, until the next day when the donuts showed up ...

My Stock Pile

If you ever watched the Show “Extreme Couponing” you know all about the crazy stockpiles those people have in their garages or basements. I’m not going to lie, I would love to have a stockpile like that, I just wish that the food wouldn’t expire. It’s just not very realistic to have 549 bottles of mustard or 236 bottles of dressing. And wasting food is one of my pet peeves, even if its free. I’ve been known for eating our leftovers five days in a row, even if I’m sick of it, just because I can’t throw it away. It’s a problem. I still love myself a little stockpile though. Or a big one, whatever. I’ve been couponing for about nine months now and love how much money we save every month. It’s still a thrill for me to walk out of the store with a bootyload of stuff that I got for free, but I’ve also piped way down since last year, when I would drive to 12 different stores to get a bunch of crap I didn’t really need. Now I’m even too cheap to pay the tax or waste my printer ink. Just thi...
