Getting it Done!

So, I have a problem with starting too many projects and never finishing them. Well, let me re-phrase, I do finish them... Eventually, but I wish I wouldn’t start new projects before finishing half done ones. It bugs me, but when I get excited about something new I want to do, I don’t have the patience to wait.

Right now, my running list of projects that I started and need to finish consists of a knitted sweater (that I started in October by the way), a knitted scarf that I promised someone to have finished by the end of April (let's just agree, that’s definitely not going to happen), a Christmas Wreath for Katie’s mom (I guess I have some time on that) and two pieces of furniture I need to refinish.
That list doesn’t even consist of the dozens of projects I have pinned on pinterest, just waiting for me to get started (and hopefully finish).

So a few weeks ago I found this awesome old highchair on craigslist and I was planning to paint it. Knowing me, this would be a project that would take me about 2.5 years, but then I remembered that we were days away from 100 degrees and there was just no way in hell that I would paint in the heat.
So I had to get my act together and actually finish something I started.

Let me just tell you, sanding down furniture won’t make it to the top of the list of my favorite activities. It was brutal and took me forever. And by forever, I mean three days. It didn’t help that every Home Improvement Store I dragged the chair to for advice, told me a different way to do it. So to make sure, this is going to work, I did them all. I know, right...can you believe it?

But once I finished this tedious task, it was smooth sailing from there on out.
I never knew that painting furniture could be so relaxing! I loved it! Four days and two coats later, I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome.
I should probably continue with one of my projects that I’ve already started, but I just got excited about something else I want to make! Oh well, I’ll finish the others eventually.

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

April phone dump

Some more pictures of our April. He's my bed hog, but I love sharing the bed with him and the way he comes find me in his sleep to snuggle up to me. Work Crew! Easter Preparations...it took me a solid hour to fill all the eggs. Finn chipped his permanent front tooth, and had to get it fixed. He was so brave. I tried to hold his hand to let him know I was there, and he kept giving me a thumbs up. Reading in bed with them is my favorite. We went to play mini golf, and it was an absolutely shit show. Just look at Finn in the background, he was on fire on this day. That's his "cool face". Not pictured are all the times he melted down because he wasn't "good enough". I really need to stop playing this game with him, because it happens every single time...haha.  Book Club! I wasn't a fan of the book, but it was great getting out and talking about books with other readers. He got into kinetic sand for a few weeks, and I felt like my floors were covered in s...
