My Stock Pile

If you ever watched the Show “Extreme Couponing” you know all about the crazy stockpiles those people have in their garages or basements. I’m not going to lie, I would love to have a stockpile like that, I just wish that the food wouldn’t expire. It’s just not very realistic to have 549 bottles of mustard or 236 bottles of dressing. And wasting food is one of my pet peeves, even if its free. I’ve been known for eating our leftovers five days in a row, even if I’m sick of it, just because I can’t throw it away. It’s a problem.
I still love myself a little stockpile though. Or a big one, whatever.
I’ve been couponing for about nine months now and love how much money we save every month. It’s still a thrill for me to walk out of the store with a bootyload of stuff that I got for free, but I’ve also piped way down since last year, when I would drive to 12 different stores to get a bunch of crap I didn’t really need. Now I’m even too cheap to pay the tax or waste my printer ink.
Just this week I had coupons to get 17 bottles of dressing for free, but I just had to pass, since I don’t even eat salad. Katie does, but it would probably take her 2 years to go through so much dressing.
I don’t have a big stockpile, but I love the one I have. My dream is to have a big walk in pantry (definitely #1 on my wishlist for the next house!) and if our laundry room wasn’t also the dogs’ room, I would’ve made that into a pantry about three years ago. So for now, my stock pile is divided between my itty bitty pantry, the garage and the bathroom cabinets. And no, I don’t store food there. Geez. Not yet anyway.

Most of this stuff was free, I think the only thing we paid for was the toilet paper and it was a freaking steal.I do have a problem with two things though. Toothpaste and chapsticks. I just love them. They don’t expire, (well) not for a long time, a long-long time and I don’t know what it is about them, but I can’t pass them up. I just can’t. I’m obsessed.

And it doesn’t matter, if I already have 47 chapsticks, if I can get more, I’m getting them. Same with the toothpaste. I also sort them by expiration date, just in case you were wondering why I arrange them like this. I do share though. Not all hope is lost with me.
But let me just tell you about the best deal I've made to date.
You all know that I’m a Cereal Addict. Sometimes I eat it three times a day. Sometimes after dinner, I have cereal for dessert. Yea, I’m kind of weird.
So back to the Story. Last week, I got 40 boxes of cereal and eight coupons for free gallons of milk for $1.68. I’m totally serious. One dollar and 68 cents people. I probably don’t have to tell you that I made a happy dance in the store at home.

And before you judge, let me just tell you that this is NOT going to waste. In fact, I will finish this stockpile in about four months. No, I don’t share my cereal stockpile. Forget about it! But if you ever need toothpaste or chapsticks….you’ll know where to find me!
