I probably say this every year, I love Christmas time and all that comes with it, but I don't enjoy Christmas Eve and Day as much as I used do, because it can feel very lonely post divorce.
This year I had the boys for Christmas Eve, so on the 23rd we got ready for Santa, and said goodbye to "Airplane the elf".
I told them to put cookies and carrots out for Santa and the reindeer, and they did, but one kid kept eating Santa's cookies, and the other ate the Reindeer's carrots.
Obviously I made them take this picture...haha.
Christmas (Eve) morning, it was just the boys and I, and they opened their stockings and gifts.
This was Finn's favorite gift and I found it for $3 at Goodwill! I love a good Goodwill find.
One of Fox's big gifts was a new gaming screen, and he's a big fan.
Finn is all about spelling things these days, so I got him this old school spelling machine.
That afternoon, we met up at their grandma Rene's house with the rest of the family.
We played some games too, which is always my favorite.
Cousins!
This is the face of a kid who got cash for Christmas...haha. Which is funny, because he saves every single dollar he gets and never spends it on anything.
One of the reasons I love my neighborhood is that someone organizes these luminaries every single Christmas eve. I've lived here for 11 years now and it's still going strong. I loved coming home to this view.
And then the sickness started! The next day, Christmas Day, Katie, Christina, and I were on our way to see the other side of the family and Fox spiked a fever on the way there.
We turned around and spent the rest of the day (and the following two weeks) on the couch. Luckily everyone is feeling better now and hopefully this was our share of the sickness for the year, because we all got it.
It's mid January as I type this and our Christmas tree is still up, because Finn and I can't part with it yet. Maybe it'll come down in February!
