Easter Weekend at Universal Studios

Fox has loved Harry Potter for over a year now. He has read the books many times, and watched all of the movies, so I've really been wanting to take him to Harry Potter world at Universal Studios. We invited Katie, her fiancee Christina, and my friend Allison to join us as well.
I think he bought three of these "liquid luck potions", he couldn't get enough.

We went into Ollivanders to purchase a wand for the boys, and Fox got picked during the want fitting demonstration, which was really cool. The wizard asked him to try different wands, but every time he did, something bad happened, thunder went off, things were flying off the shelves, the lights flickered...but eventually the right wand chose him, and I loved seeing Fox still believe in the whole thing.

After the demonstration, Fox helped his brother to pick out a wand as well.

They have a lot of stations throughout the park where the kids can activate certain things by using their wand, and all of the staff members were so helpful and sweet.

My favorite part about Universal Studios is the Studio tour, and Finn looks exactly how he was feeling about it...he hated it. He still talks about it to this day.

Obligatory blended family picture...oh how far we've come!

Even at dinner, he couldn't stop reading!

After dinner, the other adults took Finn back to the hotel, so Fox and I could have a special night.

All he wanted to do was to go back to Harry Potter world, we rode some rides, and it was such a special time together.

Back to Honeydukes for more candy!

The next day was Easter, and we did a little Easter egg hunt in the hotel room.

Finn really wanted to go to the beach, he had talked about it for months, so even though it was freezing, we went for a little bit before driving home, and he was so happy.

And Fox is still wearing his robes!
It was a quick trip, but I absolutely loved seeing Fox have so much fun. I'd really like to take him to Universal Studios in Florida next, but I might have to save up for that trip first!

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

March iPhone dump

A look back at the month of March! Fox and I had a few hours to ourselves while Finn was at a birthday party, and he wanted to go shopping at Target and get some Starbucks. Sounds like my kind of date! This is where you can find him most days, playing games with his friends online, while simultaneously being on facetime with them. When did he get so big? Family game night outside! My sour patch kid. He told me he will still cuddle with me until he is 42...haha! I've been having a really hard time sharing parenting time lately. It kills me every time when I have to drop them off every other week for a stretch of five days, and I have been getting anxiety attacks. I know they are well taken care of, I know they have fun there and don't even think about me, but it still sucks. Whenever I'm not with them, I'm at work, and I guess it's just been extra hard because I never had to be away from them as much as I have since becoming a nurse.  Fox brought this home from schoo...
