Fox | 11 Month Update

Weight:
19.8 lbs (on home scale)

Height:
29.5 inches (measured at home)

Health:
Healthy as can be!

Nicknames:
Big Honey, Baby Honey, Bubba, Schatzi, Bubbles, Mr. Fox, Foxy, Pumpkin, Stinky Butts, Poodle, Big Huns, Baby Poodle

Eating:
I nurse Fox first thing when he wakes up, he gets a 6oz bottle of breastmilk with Matthias before his nap and then I nurse him before bedtime. I noticed that he wasn’t too interested in nursing in the afternoon anymore, he’s way too busy playing, so I just stopped doing it in the afternoon and he’s been doing great.  I also stopped dream feeding since my last update and it hasn’t been a problem at all.

He eats three solid meals a day and is still a huge fan of carbs. He loves blueberries, smoothies, sweet potatoes, pears, bread with applesauce, hummus or cream cheese, puffs, yoghurt melts, yoghurt and waffles. He often refuses new foods at first, but will eat them if I put them in a mesh feeder, like kiwi and mango. A lot of time I stress out about what he eats and that he isn’t completely on table food yet, but then I remember that it won’t be like this forever and a few months ago I stressed that he would only eat bananas and look at him now!

Teething:
No new teeth this month, but Fox went to the dentist for the first time and she said that his two top molars are coming in right now. I’m not ready for that and I’m scared what it will do to his sleeping habits.

Sleeping:
He is officially on one nap a day now, which usually lasts 2-3 hours. He wakes up earlier these days, any time between 6 and 6:30am and goes to bed at 7pm. He still sleeps through the night without issues and barely wakes up anymore, maybe once to twice a month (knock on wood).

Diapers:
Size 3

Clothing:
Mostly 12 month clothing
Social:
He has been so interactive this month. He talks all the time (he says dog, cat, more and ball) and understands when we ask him “Where is Zuma” or “Where is your cat (stuffed animal)”? He has learned what sharing means, but will not always do it.

While I’m always sad that my baby is growing up, I do love this age and he is so fun!

Likes:
Music and dancing, being outside, riding in his stroller, other babies and children, when we make loud sounds that surprise him (like “boo”, sneezing, etc.), sleeping on his side and stomach, water bottles, our dogs (especially Zuma), bath time (only when we allow him to stand up in the bath tub), having his mommies attention, bracelets and necklaces, watching videos of himself giggle, baby puffs, cream cheese, smoothies, yoghurt melts and any kind of carbs, cell phones and remotes, walking with his push cart or if someone holds his hand, playing peek-a-boo, Roomba (vacuum robot), his stuffed animal Cat in the Hat, shaking his head (like he’s saying “no, no, no”), opening cabinets and drawers, looking at pictures of Katie, me and himself on our picture wall, pulling his books off the bookshelf, swinging and going to the playground, his water table, the activity board Katie and I made him, his lego table, riding and sitting in his cozy coupe

Dislikes:
The Sun (he sneezes and it makes him mad when it shines in his face), when we take something away from him, changing his diaper, long car rides
Mama:
I’m officially starting to panic about him turning one! Every morning and night we sit in the chair in his room and I nurse him, which is the only time he lets me hold him real still. He just stares at me and is so sweet and cuddly and it makes me so sad to think that these days are numbered.

Mommy:
Katie has been teaching Fox all kinds of things this month and is so proud of him. They have dance parties every day and she can make him laugh like no one else. I love watching these two interact, it just makes my heart burst with happiness and love.

Fun things we did:
We went to the Zoo with friends a few times, had a Baby Easter Party at Fox’s friend Cameron’s house, celebrated his first Easter with both of Katie’s families, had a couple of playdates with his friends and went to the Splash Pad for the very first time (he loved it). Matthias has also been taking him to Storytime at the Library, Playtime at the “Arizona Doll House” and to the Baby Gym every week and Fox loves doing all of these activities. I like that he gets to interact with a lot of other babies and children, and gets out of the house and experiences new things.
Milestones:
Fox took his first steps on April 2nd, at 10.5 months old. He has since taken many more and becomes more and more brave each and every day. I’m predicting that he’ll be exclusively walking by his first birthday.

He also has learned a few words this month (dog, cat, more and ball), but dog is his all time favorite and he will say it 145,698 times a day. He is so cute!

What we’re looking forward to:
His first birthday party and a few first birthday parties for his friends. I’m also looking forward  to his Cake Smash Session with our photographer and hope he’ll dig into it!

Comments

  1. Wow, Fox is doing great! Emilia only just started crawling at 10.5 months and she does not say anything that would remotely resemble a word.
We're also not ready to make the transition to one nap a day, plus she still wakes around 4 most nights...*sigh*

August iPhone dump

A few of my favorite moments from August! Meet the teacher for the boys! I received this picture from Katie's wife, such a sweet bond they have. I'm also loving how his pajamas are inside out...haha. Walter came back to spend a few days with us! We watched him last summer, and the boys kept talking about him, so we were all so excited when his mom asked us to watch him for a few days. Notice Finn pouting. He was upset that Walter "only pays attention to Fox". So many big emotions in such a tiny body. Mr. Cool Guy at his dentist check up and teeth cleaning! I was trying to get some work done in my office, but this guy needed some attention. Finn made a bed for them, so they could sleep together. In the end, no one wanted to sleep there, but he was so happy to cuddle with Walter for a bit. My friend got me some comedy tickets to see "Nurse John", so I invited my two besties, and two of my old classmates, and we had a blast, he was so funny. We even got VIP acc...

May iPhone dump

Some of my favorite moments of May that haven't made it on the blog yet. May has been such an incredible month and I wish I could turn back time and do it all over again. Between graduating from nursing school and all the celebrations that came with that, Fox's 10th birthday, Finn's Kindergarten graduation, and all the sweet little moments in between, it was a month I will never forget.  Kindergarten Homework for this cutie, he is very smart, but hates doing it. This was my favorite view at school, right when you exited the building. This was the place where we met up with friends during breaks, and after every exam, and I wanted to take a picture to remember this special place.  Making paper airplanes has been a new favorite for him. This was two days before I took my final exam, and I probably should've been studying, but having an ice cream date with the boys sounded much more fun. He loves to make us laugh. While Finn and I were getting ready for bed, I asked him to...

December iPhone dump

December came and went in a flash! We visited Santa! I started a new job in November as a patient care technician in the Oncology unit at the hospital I'm hoping to get hired by after I graduate. I have heard from many people that this hospital usually hires nurses from within, so I wanted to get my foot in the door, and also gain some more experience before graduating. I was really nervous about handling two 12 hour days per week, on top of school and sharing custody of the kids, and while it hasn't been easy, it has been very rewarding. I love the unit I'm on, the patients, the people I work with, and it's a very humbling experience to work in Oncology.  I took a screen shot of my activity after one of my shifts, I usually average between 7.5-9.5 miles per day, just from walking all over the unit.  The boys are playing bar with their cousin at Grandma's house.  We celebrated their cousin's first birthday! S'mores in the backyard. Nikolaus (a german traditi...
