Week 27

February 8th, 2014

How far along:
27 weeks

Baby is the size of a:
Rutabaga. Seems smaller than last week...these fruit and vegetable comparisons are weird sometimes! :)

Total weight gain:
No idea and I’m too scared to step on my crappy scale! Next doctor’s appointment is next week.

Maternity Clothes?
I really don’t want to buy more maternity clothes that I will only wear for three more months, but finding clothes in my closet becomes more and more of a challenge these days!

Stretch Marks?
No new ones.

Sleep?
I’m still sleeping through the night most days and don’t have to go to the bathroom, which is awesome. Last night though, I woke up in a lot of pain, I can’t even describe it. A combination of tightness in my stomach and cramps. It freaked me out at first, but Katie thought it was probably just my uterus expanding? I wasn’t bleeding and felt better after a while, so hopefully it was nothing to be concerned about.

Best moment of the Week:
We’ve had a pretty quiet week. Just spending time with Katie and enjoying our last few months as a family of two!

Movement:
All the time! He is so active!

Food Cravings:
Nothing unusual.

Belly Button in or out:
Getting flatter each week!

Gender:
Sweet baby boy!

Symptoms:
Pregnancy acne and having back and rib pains. Bending down is rough and I know it’s just going to get worse from here on out! Pregnancy is hard work!

Anything Making you queasy or Sick?
Feeling great!

Have you Started to Show yet?
People are really starting to notice now. The other day, a lady approached me in a store, telling me that I looked “so stinking cute”. I looked down to figure out why she said that and what I was wearing and it took me a second to realize that she was complimenting my belly! Ha!

What I miss:
Nothing new here: My clear skin...I’m praying it will return after I give birth!
I also miss soda and being able to bend down without hurting.

What I'm looking forward to:
Our next doctor’s appointment!

What I'm not looking forward to:
My Glucose Test next week...I hope I’ll pass!

Weekly Wisdom:
A mom of 4 told me this week that I can’t worry about my to-do lists and getting things done right now. She said that once I have a baby, I will always have to-do lists that won’t get done, no matter how hard I try, so I might as well get used to it! Cracked me up and scared me at the same time!

Wie weit:
27 Wochen

Baby ist so gross wie eine:
Steckruebe.

Ha!

Was ich vermisse:

  1. How come you have to have the Diabetes Test, or is it routine in the States? I had to have mine yesterday because of my higher BMI, but here it's definitely not a standard test for all pregnant women.
The test itself was fine, I really dreaded not eating before heading out to the hospital, but I wasn't as hungry by the time of the second bloodtest as I thought I would be.
Let's hope I don't get a call on Monday morning as they only call for bad results

The fruit and veggie comparisons are weird, especially because different websites seem to use them in different orders.
I was shocked to read my baby is 37cm long now at 28 weeks...so big already.

    1. It's standard here in the US. You do the 1hr Glucose Test and if you fail, you have to do the 3hr test. I hope you passed yours!
I know, I can't believe how big the baby is already, sometimes I wonder how he fits in there, I don't feel big enough to have a 2.5 lb, 14 inch baby in there! :)

  2. Good luck on your glucose test, Nadine!! It will feel good to have it over with. :)
I'm sorry you woke up in so much pain! That might be something you should mention to your doctor, especially if it happens again. It could be those Braxton Hicks contractions but it'd be good to figure out for your peace of mind!
Hope your ribs & back feel better, too! I hear ya, girl!

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

March iPhone dump

A look back at the month of March! Fox and I had a few hours to ourselves while Finn was at a birthday party, and he wanted to go shopping at Target and get some Starbucks. Sounds like my kind of date! This is where you can find him most days, playing games with his friends online, while simultaneously being on facetime with them. When did he get so big? Family game night outside! My sour patch kid. He told me he will still cuddle with me until he is 42...haha! I've been having a really hard time sharing parenting time lately. It kills me every time when I have to drop them off every other week for a stretch of five days, and I have been getting anxiety attacks. I know they are well taken care of, I know they have fun there and don't even think about me, but it still sucks. Whenever I'm not with them, I'm at work, and I guess it's just been extra hard because I never had to be away from them as much as I have since becoming a nurse.  Fox brought this home from schoo...
