Now & Then...

My friend Julia, who is also from Germany, and I met when we were both au pairs in Rhode Island in 2002. I remember countless nights just hanging out at Johnny Rockets on Thayer Street in Providence with her and to this day, I will always think about her when I see a Johnny Rockets.

Yep, here we are again, at our favorite place with her boyfriend (now husband) Erik. The funny thing is, I didn't even like the food there, but I guess the entertainment was worth every stomach ache I got. Whenever a certain song came on (I believe it was RESPECT from Aretha Franklin), all of the waiters would stop what they were doing to sing and dance. Totally fun.

Super lustig.

Just for the record...Katie just said I look like Weird Al Yankovic in this picture and she's glad we met about five years after that picture was taken...haha!

If someone would've told me back then, that all these years later we would both be back in the US, live in the same state again, and still be friends, I would've told that person that they're crazy!

But here we are! They live a little over 2 hours from Phoenix and Katie and I had a lot of fun visiting with them last weekend!
I've met up with them a few times since I've moved to Arizona, but it was the first time for Katie, and I hope we can see each other again soon.
So grateful for this long friendship!

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

March iPhone dump

A look back at the month of March! Fox and I had a few hours to ourselves while Finn was at a birthday party, and he wanted to go shopping at Target and get some Starbucks. Sounds like my kind of date! This is where you can find him most days, playing games with his friends online, while simultaneously being on facetime with them. When did he get so big? Family game night outside! My sour patch kid. He told me he will still cuddle with me until he is 42...haha! I've been having a really hard time sharing parenting time lately. It kills me every time when I have to drop them off every other week for a stretch of five days, and I have been getting anxiety attacks. I know they are well taken care of, I know they have fun there and don't even think about me, but it still sucks. Whenever I'm not with them, I'm at work, and I guess it's just been extra hard because I never had to be away from them as much as I have since becoming a nurse.  Fox brought this home from schoo...
