Thanksgiving Cruise

Katie's amazing family gave us a family vacation for Christmas last year. We decided we wanted to take a Caribbean Cruise over Thanksgiving week and I was very excited to go.
We started the trip in Fort Lauderdale, where we spent the first night and had the most gorgeous room with beautiful views.

We cruised with Royal Caribbean and our ship is currently the largest cruise ship in the world. They had everything: an Ice Rink, two Rock Climbing Walls, an Outdoor Amphitheater, a Casino, a gym, dozens of restaurants, bars and shops, an Outdoor Area with lots of trees, etc. that was supposed to be Central Park, a Pier with a Carousel, a mini golf course, around ten pools, two surfing simulators, a Comedy Club, a zip line, an Arcade, a room just for teens (that we got kicked out of when we tried to take a short cut), a kid's daycare, an Art Gallery and lots more.

I loved these dresses behind Katie.

Ich liebte diese Kleider hinter Katie.

The first stop was in Haiti. We went off the boat to go on the island and two minutes later we got caught in the biggest rain storm I have ever experienced. Which didn't stop us of course. It was pretty warm and humid and we got soaked. I only have one picture from the island where the rain stopped just long enough for me to whip out my camera, but it was so humid that my lens totally fogged up, as you can see here:

Was uns natuerlich nicht an unserem Ausflug hinderte.

Our second stop was Jamaica, where we booked a tour to explore some Caves and climb up a waterfall. The caves were pretty lame in my opinion (Katie loved it though), it was dark, there were bats EVERYWHERE and not much to see.

Hiking up the waterfall was simply amazing. I LOVED it and it was one of the coolest things I have ever done in my entire life (this was the moment where I counted my blessings of not being pregnant and getting to experience this). Here's a picture overload of our hike, I was so thankful that Katie's dad let us borrow his underwater camera, so we could capture this special day.

Apparently, Katie loved it too, because every other picture we took, she's giving me a thumps up!

Here she goes again with the thumps up!

She must have thought this part was especially cool...notice the two thumps.

Our last stop was Cozumel, which is an island off the coast of Mexico. We did a 4-wheeler tour through the jungle to see some Mayan ruins with the whole family. It was fun, but the tour guide thought I was driving too slow, so he put me all the way in the back, where he couldn't even see me anymore to check if I was able to keep up. Let's just say I was the one who got lost in the Jungle and another tour guide had to come find me and give me my own tour. Haha.

Haha.

Oh, what do you know...another thumps up! Cracks me up!

The guides told us that this statue would give anyone who touches it great fertility, needless to say that I kept touching her until it was time to leave. Couldn't hurt, right?

After the tour, Katie and I went parasailing. My favorite story about the trip is where we were just lifted into the air and Katie gets nauseous and throws up from above, all over herself. We had to stay up for another 15 minutes before they lowered us again...but to Katie's defense, the girl who did it afterwards threw up too. She said that she's still glad we went though.
Here we are before:

We had a lot of fun and I will be forever grateful for Katie's family to take me on this trip and to make me part of their family.
A few more pictures of out trip:

August iPhone dump

A few of my favorite moments from August! Meet the teacher for the boys! I received this picture from Katie's wife, such a sweet bond they have. I'm also loving how his pajamas are inside out...haha. Walter came back to spend a few days with us! We watched him last summer, and the boys kept talking about him, so we were all so excited when his mom asked us to watch him for a few days. Notice Finn pouting. He was upset that Walter "only pays attention to Fox". So many big emotions in such a tiny body. Mr. Cool Guy at his dentist check up and teeth cleaning! I was trying to get some work done in my office, but this guy needed some attention. Finn made a bed for them, so they could sleep together. In the end, no one wanted to sleep there, but he was so happy to cuddle with Walter for a bit. My friend got me some comedy tickets to see "Nurse John", so I invited my two besties, and two of my old classmates, and we had a blast, he was so funny. We even got VIP acc...

May iPhone dump

Some of my favorite moments of May that haven't made it on the blog yet. May has been such an incredible month and I wish I could turn back time and do it all over again. Between graduating from nursing school and all the celebrations that came with that, Fox's 10th birthday, Finn's Kindergarten graduation, and all the sweet little moments in between, it was a month I will never forget.  Kindergarten Homework for this cutie, he is very smart, but hates doing it. This was my favorite view at school, right when you exited the building. This was the place where we met up with friends during breaks, and after every exam, and I wanted to take a picture to remember this special place.  Making paper airplanes has been a new favorite for him. This was two days before I took my final exam, and I probably should've been studying, but having an ice cream date with the boys sounded much more fun. He loves to make us laugh. While Finn and I were getting ready for bed, I asked him to...

December iPhone dump

December came and went in a flash! We visited Santa! I started a new job in November as a patient care technician in the Oncology unit at the hospital I'm hoping to get hired by after I graduate. I have heard from many people that this hospital usually hires nurses from within, so I wanted to get my foot in the door, and also gain some more experience before graduating. I was really nervous about handling two 12 hour days per week, on top of school and sharing custody of the kids, and while it hasn't been easy, it has been very rewarding. I love the unit I'm on, the patients, the people I work with, and it's a very humbling experience to work in Oncology.  I took a screen shot of my activity after one of my shifts, I usually average between 7.5-9.5 miles per day, just from walking all over the unit.  The boys are playing bar with their cousin at Grandma's house.  We celebrated their cousin's first birthday! S'mores in the backyard. Nikolaus (a german traditi...
