Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!

During our last Home Show, our vendors donated Home Improvement Items and Services to a Non-Profit Company, which they raffled off during the Show to raise money for the families of fallen police officers and fire fighters.
There were some awesome prizes to win, but I didn't think our staff was allowed to participate, so half an hour before the Show closed, I asked my manager if we were allowed to play and to my surprise we were, since we had to buy the raffle tickets and therefore would be supporting the cause.
Believe me, you've never seen me grab my wallet faster and I was convinced I would win some great prize, which was probably the same conviction I have every week, that I'm going to win the Powerball!
A few days later I got a call, that I had indeed won a tubular skylight including installation, valued at $500! I was beyond excited, especially since Katie and I had been talking about buying one for a few months now.
I don't even know how to describe what it is, I've never seen these in Germany, I'm sure they have them there too.

Before, with the Lights on.
Vorher, mit der Deckenbeleuchtung an.
After, without any lights on, just the natural light!

The decision was easy, the skylight had to go in the one room that doesn't have a window, which unfortunately is the guest bathroom, which I will never use in my life, but I'm still so excited about how it turned out and it surely adds value to our house. Seriously, this room is brighter now than some of our rooms that have actual windows in them, it's awesome!
I was also impressed about the Company, who came out the same week to install it and gave me the BEST customer service I have ever received from anyone, even though it was completely free for me!
Being on that lucky streak, I also bought an extra Powerball ticket, but I guess you can't win everything...at least not in the same week...hehe - still waiting for that winning ticket...but who isn't?:)

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

March iPhone dump

A look back at the month of March! Fox and I had a few hours to ourselves while Finn was at a birthday party, and he wanted to go shopping at Target and get some Starbucks. Sounds like my kind of date! This is where you can find him most days, playing games with his friends online, while simultaneously being on facetime with them. When did he get so big? Family game night outside! My sour patch kid. He told me he will still cuddle with me until he is 42...haha! I've been having a really hard time sharing parenting time lately. It kills me every time when I have to drop them off every other week for a stretch of five days, and I have been getting anxiety attacks. I know they are well taken care of, I know they have fun there and don't even think about me, but it still sucks. Whenever I'm not with them, I'm at work, and I guess it's just been extra hard because I never had to be away from them as much as I have since becoming a nurse.  Fox brought this home from schoo...
