Thankful

So much to be thankful for this year.
A roof over our heads.
Enough food on our table.
Jobs we love.
Health.
Good Friends.
But most importantly: FAMILY!
I'm not only blessed with my german family, but also with my american family and when it's hard to be away from your loved ones at home, it's good to know to have a place where you're just as much part of the family as everyone else, like you have always belonged there. I am thankful.
I love the holidays and Thanksgiving is just the beginning of my favorite season and I'm eating it up.
This weekend, I tried to take it all in. Family Time. For me, it doesn't get better than this. Everyone in one room, playing games, cooking, talking...I just sit back and smile. I love this.
And when everyone meets at my favorite place in the world (Katie's grandparents house in Mexico, also known as my "happy place") for Thanksgiving, then it really can't get any better!

We relaxed. A lot!

Wir haben uns viel entspannt.

We played games. Sometimes until way past midnight.

Wir spielten Spiele. Manchmal bis lange nach Mitternacht.

We went into town to eat lunch and shop a couple of times. We also ate at a german restaurant once, which didn't really have any german food on their menu, but the owner was from Germany and they proudly displayed the german flag in front of the entrance.

We had fun taking silly pictures on the beach.

Until it was time to cut the turkey.

We missed Robert, who didn't want to come this year, but for the first time ever, took the dogs on a trip with us and even though I was a nervous wreck about taking them, it was so worth it.

Don't be fooled, those are not well behaved dogs, waiting for you to call them into the house, there is a screendoor right in front of them, which Zuma managed to bolt through and destroy on the second day.

Thankful for family members who love on our dogs, even though they would never admit that they even like them. ;)

We bought some 30ft leashes for them, so they could run on the beach without us having to worry that they would take off the moment they see a bird and they just loved it! Best $12 we ever spent!
And I just loved watching them. They had so much fun, running in and out of the water, exploring the beach and rolling in the sand.

Life is good!
Das Leben ist schoen!

August iPhone dump

A few of my favorite moments from August! Meet the teacher for the boys! I received this picture from Katie's wife, such a sweet bond they have. I'm also loving how his pajamas are inside out...haha. Walter came back to spend a few days with us! We watched him last summer, and the boys kept talking about him, so we were all so excited when his mom asked us to watch him for a few days. Notice Finn pouting. He was upset that Walter "only pays attention to Fox". So many big emotions in such a tiny body. Mr. Cool Guy at his dentist check up and teeth cleaning! I was trying to get some work done in my office, but this guy needed some attention. Finn made a bed for them, so they could sleep together. In the end, no one wanted to sleep there, but he was so happy to cuddle with Walter for a bit. My friend got me some comedy tickets to see "Nurse John", so I invited my two besties, and two of my old classmates, and we had a blast, he was so funny. We even got VIP acc...

January iPhone dump

A quick look at our January! Nursing Level 2 unlocked...after getting a heated vest, I now also have my personal space heater at work. No one warned me how cold hospitals are...haha! We watched our friend's dog for a few days and Mr. Finn was in heaven. He wouldn't let go of poor Nugget and always wanted him to be right with him. His eyes say "Save me!!!" Cherishing the times that he will cuddle with me. I know I don't have much time left, and that makes me really sad. Self-care...reading a book in our hammock while the kids were playing nicely together. Another downfall of them growing up, is that we now have to order adult meals at the restaurant. I might have to get another job in order to afford these two...haha.  Katie sent me this picture of Finn sleeping with their dog one night.  Sweet things my co-worker leaves for me when I was sick at work...she made me a to-go tissue packet because the box I kept carrying around kept falling out of my fanny pack that I...

First day of school

This year I have a first and a fifth grader! Aww, he was so tiny in the first picture in Pre-K! Last year of elementary school for this big kid, and Mama is not ready for middle school next year. The boys had a great start to their school year, still taking the bus every day, and while no one is a fan of going to school around here, they seem to like their teachers and classes so far. I'm glad to be getting back to more of a routine for them (and me), because let me just tell you...summer was rough! Haha.
