Worth the Wait!

I never buy anything for myself. Literally never. But then I fell in love with this camera and I just knew I had to have her.

That was 16 months ago.

The only way I could justify to myself spending a crazy amount of money on a camera was, if I didn't pay it from my salary. So I saved. Long and hard. Took as many babysitting shifts as I could get, and I might even admit to Katie paying me for doing her part of the household chores. Just Maybe.
Let me tell you...all those hours of playing Candyland finally paid off! Okay, I actually like Candyland and I love the boys I'm babysitting, but you get my point!:)

Also habe ich gespart.
I also love my new camera bag that I got from Katie and my not so new camera strap that I got from Katie's parents!
I've had her for a week now and I can honestly say, that I feel completely overwhelmed by it. The manual might as well be in chinese and after a few days of feeling panicky because I had no idea what the heck I was doing, I went to a 4-hour photography class to learn the basics. I did learn a lot, but like I said: I still have no idea what the heck I'm doing.:)

Oh well, I know it will probably take years to learn it, but I'm very determined and I can't wait to learn more and hopefully shoot a decent picture eventually! Ha! I will take some photography classes in college this summer and practice, practice, practice!
Here are some shots we took on Mother's Day:

  1. Woohoo Congrats! I know exactly what you mean and how you feel! I love photography and I still need to learn so much more about my camera (Nikon). But it's fun and it's worth it! Enjoy!

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

March iPhone dump

A look back at the month of March! Fox and I had a few hours to ourselves while Finn was at a birthday party, and he wanted to go shopping at Target and get some Starbucks. Sounds like my kind of date! This is where you can find him most days, playing games with his friends online, while simultaneously being on facetime with them. When did he get so big? Family game night outside! My sour patch kid. He told me he will still cuddle with me until he is 42...haha! I've been having a really hard time sharing parenting time lately. It kills me every time when I have to drop them off every other week for a stretch of five days, and I have been getting anxiety attacks. I know they are well taken care of, I know they have fun there and don't even think about me, but it still sucks. Whenever I'm not with them, I'm at work, and I guess it's just been extra hard because I never had to be away from them as much as I have since becoming a nurse.  Fox brought this home from schoo...
