A little piece of Home

Last weekend two of my best friends from Germany visited me. They had toured the US and ended their trip with a short visit in Arizona. I've known them since 13 years (I'm getting old ;)) and I was so happy to see them again after such a long time, even though the visit was way to short.

We had a "typical american" BBQ, played cards (where I had to defend my reputation and once again won every single time...hehe) and looked at old pictures. A lot of them were from Thanksgiving 1997, where Thomas and I danced together, we were in a dancing group, who studied a dance for the village every year for Thanksgiving, in Dirndl and Lederhosen of course, and with a lot of spinning the girls over the boys' arms. (Not sure how to describe it in english...). Katie and Ashlie didn't believe that we could do it, so we had to prove it to them:)

The pictures make me laugh!
So you can imagine what we did, here is a picture from one of the spins 13 years ago:
Und hier der "13 Jahre spaeter" Versuch:

And here is us trying 13 years later:

You may laugh!
Okay, we can still do it after all this time, it just looks more (way more?) clumsy...haha! We decided to try again in 13 years!:)

After we took a trip down memory lane, we started the fire pit, although it wasn't really necessary, since we almost had 100 degrees during the day and it doesn't cool down that much at night either. But why having a fire pit then?

We took a lot of pictures, because who knows, when we will see each other again?
(You can see the smoke from the fire in this picture)
Und Smores haben wir gemacht!

And we made Smores!

It was an awesome day! I had a lot of fun and I wish they could've stayed longer! See you next time!

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

We took some family pictures this fall!

March iPhone dump

A look back at the month of March! Fox and I had a few hours to ourselves while Finn was at a birthday party, and he wanted to go shopping at Target and get some Starbucks. Sounds like my kind of date! This is where you can find him most days, playing games with his friends online, while simultaneously being on facetime with them. When did he get so big? Family game night outside! My sour patch kid. He told me he will still cuddle with me until he is 42...haha! I've been having a really hard time sharing parenting time lately. It kills me every time when I have to drop them off every other week for a stretch of five days, and I have been getting anxiety attacks. I know they are well taken care of, I know they have fun there and don't even think about me, but it still sucks. Whenever I'm not with them, I'm at work, and I guess it's just been extra hard because I never had to be away from them as much as I have since becoming a nurse.  Fox brought this home from schoo...
