Fox's 10th Birthday trip

I started planning this trip last summer, because I knew I wanted to take Fox on a special one on one trip after he turned ten. He has loved Harry Potter for many years, and we've been to Universal Studios in California several times, but I knew he would love the bigger Harry Potter World in Florida.
On the night before our flight, he requested a special dinner at his favorite restaurant.

We had an overnight flight and both slept a little bit on the plane, but were exhausted when we arrived in the morning, so we took a little nap, before starting our adventures. We stayed onsite at one of the Universal hotels, and it was absolutely perfect. There wasn't anything super special about our room, but he kept saying how fancy it was!

The view from our room.

After we had caught up on some sleep, we took the shuttle bus to Volcano Bay. I don't like water parks, but this one was absolutely amazing. Plus, it was so hot, that the water felt great. Fox and I still talk about it to this date.
They had these special watches, where you could check in on the rides, and then come back when it was your turn.

I can't even describe how much fun we had together, and how special this time with him was.

They had a lazy river, but then this one was the "crazy river". Everyone had to wear life vests and it was wild at times. We spent a lot of time in there.

On our second day there, we went straight to Diagon Alley at Universal Studios.

You could ride the Hogwarts Express between the two worlds, and we did this multiple times during our time there.

Butter Beer to cool off in between rides.

Both days we had lunch at the three broomsticks, per Fox's request.

This was Fox's first big rollercoaster, the HULK ride. To be honest, I was a little nervous about riding it because I don't like rollercoasters, but I had told him I would ride any ride he wanted to ride, and so we did. He liked it, but not enough to do it again.

It was a really hot, and humid day, and we cooled off at the Chocolate Emporium with milkshakes.

Our third day in Florida was split between Harry Potter World, and Volcano Bay.

I think we were both over the heat at that point, and just wanted to cool off in the water.
Fox's favorite ride at Universal was Hagrid's Motorbike adventure, and I think we rode it 4 times.

The flight back was exhausting, and long. Have you ever been on a fight where they asked for any medical personnel, because there's an emergency with someone? I kept my head down, hoping someone would raise their hand, but it turned out that I was their best option, so I had to attend to one of the travelers while this kid was passed out. We ended up making an emergency landing at a different airport, which delayed our flight by about three hours. We were so glad to be home when we finally landed in Phoenix, but both agreed that we wish we could've had more time in Florida.
It was the very best trip, and I loved every moment of it. It was so special to have this time with just Fox, and make him feel special and heard. I hope we can do these kind of trips regularly in the future, but it'll be Finn's turn for a special trip first!

April phone dump

Some more pictures of our April. He's my bed hog, but I love sharing the bed with him and the way he comes find me in his sleep to snuggle up to me. Work Crew! Easter Preparations...it took me a solid hour to fill all the eggs. Finn chipped his permanent front tooth, and had to get it fixed. He was so brave. I tried to hold his hand to let him know I was there, and he kept giving me a thumbs up. Reading in bed with them is my favorite. We went to play mini golf, and it was an absolutely shit show. Just look at Finn in the background, he was on fire on this day. That's his "cool face". Not pictured are all the times he melted down because he wasn't "good enough". I really need to stop playing this game with him, because it happens every single time...haha.  Book Club! I wasn't a fan of the book, but it was great getting out and talking about books with other readers. He got into kinetic sand for a few weeks, and I felt like my floors were covered in s...

Germany

I took a quick trip to Germany over spring break while the boys were on vacation with Katie. My dad had some medical issues over the past year, and it had been almost two years since I went, but a trip that was supposed to be five days in Germany, ended up being only four days because of flight delays. When in Germany for the first time, you HAVE to try Mettbroetchen. Needless to say, she was not a fan haha. A trip down memory lane is always on the agenda for the first day, walking around my village, visiting the homes where I grew up in (which are luckily still owned by my family), visiting my grandparent's graves, and eating all my favorite foods.  My only living grandparent, and one of the main reasons I wanted to go visit. It was so special to spend time with her. We had doener almost every day! Family dinner at my favorite restaurant one night, I absolutely loved how many people were able to join us even though it was very short notice. We also had breakfast at my grandma'...

August phone dump

It's September, and I couldn't be more excited for what's to come...Fall, Halloween, Christmas...it's my favorite time of year. But let's look back at our August! I've had them fill out the same back to school form since they started school many years ago. When all the kids go back to school, us moms celebrate with a back to school brunch and it was everything my heart needed and more! So many good conversations, so many laughs, and getting to hold baby Nora was the icing on the cake! Playdate with some friends! Fox read with me in the car while we were waiting for Finn's bus...it made me so happy! He asked me to make him an "ultimate chill space" while he was at school, and this is what I came up with. He approved, and even tried to have a sleepover with me there, but we only made it for about an hour, before we went to bed. I took the kids, and one of Fox's friend to the water park one afternoon and it was perfect. Finn braved the high dive f...
