14 Weeks Pregnancy Update

February 14, 2018

How far along:
14 weeks – Second Trimester!

Baby is the size of a:
Lemon. We have some lemons in the office and their sizes range a lot, so how accurate is this? Haha. Either way, even the smallest lemon looks huge to me. Baby weighs 1.5oz.

Total weight gain:
Lost half a pound over the last week…still up about 10lbs though.

Maternity Clothes?
I’ve been enjoying a brand new wardrobe this week! I’ve been thinking about how easy second pregnancies are logistic wise, because you already have everything you need…from maternity clothes and pregnancy pillows to everything you could possibly need for a baby. I’ve started a list of things we need to buy/register for and it’s pretty small, so that’s a win! Although, I also feel like second pregnancies are way less exciting than first ones. I would get so excited about every little baby item back then and now it’s more of a “been there, done that” attitude. Normal?

Stretch Marks?
Probably still too early.

Sleep?
Still miserable between falling asleep, bathroom breaks and being uncomfortable. Trying to be in bed by 9pm each night, but it all depends on my work load.

Best moment of the Week:
My energy is getting a little better, so spending some more play time with Fox and taking him places has been good for me this week. He is such a trooper through all my sickness and exhaustion and still sweet as can be. He tells his classmates all the time to be careful with my belly because there is a baby in there and when a commercial comes on with a baby in it, he will say: “Aww…look Mama, a baby” and cuddles up to me.

Movement:
None.

Food Cravings:
Nothing new this week. Although I craved Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream so bad that I made Katie get me some and when I had it, it made me feel sick, so there’s that. Still eating the same stuff every day for breakfast and lunch: Cereal, Bagels, Apples and Bananas, Chicken Noodle Soup, Sandwiches…kind of getting tired of it, but nothing ever sounds good.

Belly Button in or out:
In.

Gender:
We know what we are having and have had a name picked out for years. Although, we are both a little sad, because we REALLY loved the other gender’s name that we picked and that we will never be able to use it now.

Symptoms:
Here we are, the glorified second trimester. So where’s my relief? Not that I was expecting to feel better overnight, but I’m ready for some change. Woke up super sick again this morning too. I actually had a mini meltdown this week, I was so sick of being sick and tired and just lost it. Hoping for three more weeks like I had it with Fox and be done with it.

Anything Making you queasy or Sick?
Car Rides and not eating. Laying down at night is the worst, for some reason I get really bad in the afternoons and then continue to go downhill until bedtime.

Have you Started to Show yet?
Waiting for the first stranger to ask me if I’m pregnant.

What I miss:
Oh…you know: Having energy, feeling healthy, food that sounds good, sleeping through the night.

What I'm looking forward to:
Bedtime.

What I'm not looking forward to:
The next few weeks. Also, Katie is going out of town in March for almost three weeks, and as of now, I have no idea, how I will survive this. I’m a whiner, I know.

Family Pictures

For Christmas last year, we gave Katie's mom a gift certificate to take family pictures with everyone. It took us a year to finally get it done, because some of the family lives in different states and we usually only ever see everyone for Christmas. So a few days before Christmas we went out in the desert and our photographer snapped some quick pictures.

I will only post a few of them because she seriously gave us so many. My mother in law was super happy with them, so I think our gift was a success.

4 Generations

All of the kids (and grandkids)

This was also the day we announced our pregnancy to the rest of the family (only Katie's mom and stepdad knew before). When our photographer posed all of us for the last picture of the day, she yelled "Everyone says...Nadine is pregnant!".
It didn't go as I expected to be honest. I don't know if she was too far away and people didn't hear it, but it was a super delayed reaction...haha. I'm still working on a video that includes all of the reactions I filmed, so you will see it eventually!

13 Weeks Pregnancy Update

February 7, 2018

How far along:
13 weeks

Baby is the size of a:
Peach or a Matchbox Car! Fox always asks me every day how big the baby is and is so excited when it’s something new every week.

Total weight gain:
I think 10lbs…ouch! The doctor said not to worry about it because with second pregnancies, it’s mostly water weight anyway. I also lost 14lbs between August and December before becoming pregnant, so I’m thinking this weight is sneaking up on me faster than normal, because I changed my eating habits and don’t work out anymore. But still...ouch!

Maternity Clothes?
Slowly but surely getting my maternity clothes out. They are pretty baggy on me right now, but I’m going for comfort, so it’s all good.

Stretch Marks?
Not yet. I didn’t get any with Fox, so I’m hoping I’ll be spared again.

Sleep?
Sleep is my only break from feeling miserable all day long. Unfortunately it’s hard for me to fall asleep and stay asleep, but I better get used to that.

Best moment of the Week:
Being in Disneyland with my sweet family. I know, I know, I said I wasn’t looking forward to it, but it turned out so much better than I anticipated.

Movement:
Nothing definite yet.

Food Cravings:
Bagels with Cream Cheese and Bread with tomato slices.

Belly Button in or out:
In.

Gender:
We know what we are having, but only shared with Family and close friends so far. We were getting excited this week to start planning the nursery and even ordered a piece of furniture for it (a shelf…we are keeping the main pieces from Fox).

Symptoms:
A little bit of pregnancy acne, exhaustion and nausea, especially at night. I upped my anti nausea meds a few times this week, but didn’t really feel a difference, so I’m still only taking it once a day. Luckily no more headaches!
The nausea has been insane this week though, I felt like I was in week 8 all over again and started to freak out that I will never get better. I threw up a few times this week, which is also unusual for me, one time even at night (which has never happened before with pregnancy). I hope I’ll see some progress soon.

Anything Making you queasy or Sick?
How about: Anything NOT making me queasy or sick?

Have you Started to Show yet?
Some days I think I’m huge, some days I think I’m still tiny. I already started rubbing my belly like a Genie Lamp though, all day, every day. It’s my favorite thing about pregnancy and I can’t wait to get that big ole belly.

What I miss:
My old life. Come on second trimester!

What I'm looking forward to:
Hmmm…can I say bedtime every night?

What I'm not looking forward to:
Nothing in particular, besides feeling crappy all day, every day. I literally wake up in the morning and start to count down the hours until I can go back to bed.

12 Weeks Pregnancy Update

January 31, 2018
How far along:
12 weeks

Baby is the size of a:
Plum! Feels so big already!

Total weight gain:
Only gained 0.4lbs this week, still at about 8lbs total.

Maternity Clothes?
None yet. Good thing I have a lot of leggings. I’m super excited about busting out the maternity clothes though, because my friends gave me so many and they’re super cute!

Stretch Marks?
Started using stretchmark cream this week!

Sleep?
Pretty much the same. Vivid dreams, bathroom breaks and having a hard time falling and staying asleep. One day this week I woke up and my upper thigh hurt like crazy. It felt like a sore muscle and for the next few days, it was bothering me, but it was okay. Then all of the sudden, one afternoon, I couldn’t walk on it anymore and started limping. That night, I was in more pain than ever before, it was horrible. I went to the doctor the next morning who sent me straight to get an ultrasound to check for blood clots, but luckily, none were found. I had one more horrendous night and then it was gone. So weird.

Best moment of the Week:
I had my 12 week check up and was able to see our sweet baby dancing around. That kid was crazy, bouncing up and down and super wild. The doctor asked me what I had for breakfast (because the baby looked like it had a sugar high), but I only had a plain bagel. I can’t wait to see if it will be as crazy when it is here…we are in for a wild ride for sure!

Movement:
Sometimes I feel things going on in there, but I never know if it’s the baby or gas or something else.

Food Cravings:
Tacos all the way! I’ve been able to go a little longer between meals, so hopefully that’s a sign that the nausea will ease up soon.

Belly Button in or out:
In.

Gender:
At exactly 12 weeks, we found out the gender! Eeks! The doctor gave me the envelope and told me all the genetics looked normal (yay!), so I was driving around with that envelope all day long and it was so hard not to peek. That night, we did a gender reveal with me, Katie and Fox and our photographer was there to document it. You’ll have to wait for the reveal post to find out!

Symptoms:
A little bit of pregnancy acne, but luckily much less than I had it with Fox. Nausea, especially at night, along with headaches and cramps. The doctor said, it’s a good sign that I’m having headaches, because it means my hormones are leveling out now and the nausea should ease up. It was so bad the other night, that I threw up. I searched the house for some Tylenol, but we only had children’s Tylenol, so I took some of that and it helped. The doctor said Tylenol is completely fine, but I’m trying not to take it too often. Still exhausted beyond belief.

Anything Making you queasy or Sick?
Driving, laying down at night, not eating.

Have you Started to Show yet?
Katie sometimes comments how big my belly is, but it still looks like a food belly, not a pregnancy belly yet.

What I miss:
Lots of things. This experience has been miserable so far. I always wanted three children, but Katie’s compromise was two. I had a hard time finding peace with this in the past, but I think this pregnancy is God’s way of showing me, that I’m truly done after this. My body does not handle pregnancy well.

What I'm looking forward to:
Announcing our pregnancy to the rest of the world!

What I'm not looking forward to:
We are going to Disneyland this weekend, and I’m not sure how I will do there, but I’m a little scared. I’m probably the only person in the world who is NOT looking forward to Disneyland…haha!

Disneyland

A few weeks ago the three (four) of us had a fun weekend at Disneyland. As I mentioned before, we were supposed to go for New Year's with the rest of the family, but we were all so sick, that we canceled the trip. We were bummed that the rest of the family couldn't join us, but it was a perfect weekend.
I thought that I couldn't ride many rides, being pregnant and all, but I could ride almost every single thing that Fox wanted to do, which was so awesome! Not these bumper cars though!

He has been so sweet and cuddly lately, we both love it and enjoy it while it lasts!

Fox is usually not able to eat much that doesn't come from our house, because it's hard to tell ingredients on ready to go food items and with his allergies, we usually never risk it. This cotton candy was safe for him though and it was his first ever cotton candy. Can you tell that he was excited? He took one bite and told us he didn't like it...go figure! Ha!

Best $20 I ever spent, this bubble blower was a hit all weekend long.

It was a really relaxing weekend overall, we didn't stress about having to ride every single ride, we slept in every day and took our time getting to the park and just followed Fox's lead. The weather was so perfect too!

I was really surprised that Fox was scared or nervous of a lot of rides. He hated "Soarin'" and literally jumped in his seat a few times, he didn't want to do the Haunted Mansion (he loved it when he was 2 years old) this time and even the Ariel ride made him super nervous. He did do the Cars ride for the very first time with Katie though (which is my favorite!) and loved it.

We had planned to stay until after the Disney Show (World of Color) which was at 9pm, but we could tell that Fox started to get tired around 7pm, so we headed back to our hotel to get a good night's sleep.

Another day, another special Disney treat. This was their famous dole whip, which is basically pineapple sorbet, and lucky for us, also egg and dairy free. Fox was stoked!
He loved it so much, that we got it both days and he even ate my leftovers. When in Rome...right?

In honor of Grandma, we rode "Small World" which is her all time favorite ride. Fox will tell you that it was boring, but we both think he secretly enjoyed it. He kept pointing at the characters and was totally engaged.

Another ride I wasn't able to do. I wasn't too sad, because Katie said that Fox was a crazy driver.

I've never noticed this old time fire station before and Fox had fun checking it out.

He was so proud of his hat!
For this trip, we stayed in a hotel offsite. While they had a shuttle, it took us probably an hour to home each night, so we definitely like staying at the Disneyland hotels better, where we can just walk to every night.

I did much better at Disneyland than anticipated.
I was super tired each night, but luckily, Fox was too, so I got to go to bed at a decent hour every night!
My nausea wasn't too bad until the very last day when we left and while some of the rides made me a little sick, I wanted to participate for Fox and have a fun weekend with him...who knows if this was our last trip as a family of three!

11 Weeks Pregnancy Update

January 24, 2018
How far along:
11 weeks

Baby is the size of a:
One of my pregnancy apps says lime, one says Brussel sprout, so that’s a huge difference in my book.

Total weight gain:
8lbs? Kind of shocked, but I shouldn’t be surprised. At this point I just eat what sounds good, because nothing really appeals to me right now.

Maternity Clothes?
I haven’t worn maternity pants since last week, just leggings all day, every day. It’ll be a long time before I have to bust out the maternity shirts I think.

Stretch Marks?
No.

Sleep?
Still sleeping bad. Nausea is at its peak every night, so I’m having a hard time falling asleep. But I refuse to take more anti nausea medication at night, if I’m just going to sleep anyway. Still having vivid dreams and having to use the bathroom twice a night. I usually try to be in bed by 9pm and sleep until 7am.

Best moment of the Week:
These all sound stupid, but this is pregnant life right here:
  •       Picking up Fox from my mother in law’s house and she has tacos for me
  •       Katie taking Fox to a play place for 4 hours this weekend, so I could nap
  •       Going longer between meals without getting sick
I also found the heartbeat on my Doppler for the first time this week, at 10w2d. Hearing it made me so relieved, because I have been freaking myself out. Four weeks in between appointments is a long time.

Movement:
Too early.

Food Cravings:
Pizza this week! I also craved my mother in law’s tacos for a few weeks now and tomato sandwiches.

Belly Button in or out:
In.

Gender:
I took my blood test today, so we should know by next week what we are having. Although there is no doubt in my mind that it’s a boy. The pregnancy seems identical so far, the cravings are very similar and I just feel very strongly about a boy. This week, Fox picked out a new name for him, Planet. Bummer, because Jetpack kind of grew on me…haha!

Symptoms:
Pretty much the same. The nausea seems to be a little better this week, especially in the mornings, but I’m still taking my meds. It gets bad at night and I also get headaches almost every night. The exhaustion is what gets me most though, it’s awful. I finally found an ounce of energy in me this week to take the Christmas tree down. And do some dishes and laundry. I felt like supermom afterwards…haha! Getting a little bit of pregnancy acne as well, which is later than what I got with Fox and so far (knock on wood), not as bad. Cramping is still going strong at night as well. Have I mentioned that I don’t like being pregnant?

Anything Making you queasy or Sick?
Driving, laying down at night, not eating.

Have you Started to Show yet?
I’m getting there. The growing belly is the only thing I like about this stage right now.

What I miss:
Being active and able to do things. Sleeping good.

What I'm looking forward to:
Our next ultrasound next week and our gender reveal. I’m a little nervous though, not about the gender, but hearing back about the genetics and hopefully everything comes back normal.

What I'm not looking forward to:
Every day is a struggle, just waiting for the moment I feel somewhat better.

You can find Fox’s 11 weeks pregnancy update HERE!

And check this out...one of my best friends is pregnant with her second baby as well! I'm so happy to have a partner in crime through all of this and we share symptoms, ultrasound pictures and our overall misery almost daily. I can't wait to see our babies grow up together, just like our first borns did! So incredibly special!
