24 Weeks Pregnancy Update

April 25, 2018

How far along:
24 weeks, we have reached VIABILITY!!! The weeks seem to be flying by now!

Baby is the size of an:
Ear of a Corn

Total weight gain:
I somehow managed to gain 3lbs this week, so I’m up 25lbs total. That’s about the weight other people gain their entire pregnancy. Hmmm…!

Maternity Clothes?
Both, but mostly maternity clothes.

Stretch Marks?
Not yet.

Sleep?
Getting very uncomfortable. Turning over is hard and I wake up when I have to turn.

Best moment of the Week:
I had a doctor’s appointment and I wasn’t expecting it, but we did an ultrasound! Baby looked perfect and right on track.

Movement:
Getting stronger and he’s especially active at night when I want to go to sleep!

Food Cravings:
Salad and Chocolate Milk.

Belly Button in or out:
In.

Gender:
Sweet baby boy!

Symptoms:
The only new things right now is that my upper belly feels very hard and hurts a lot.

Anything Making you queasy or Sick?
Feeling really good!

Have you Started to Show yet?
Getting bigger quickly now!

What I miss:
Sleeping on my back and stomach, and through the night for that matter. I’m still craving Coke like crazy, even though I didn’t have one in 1.5 years.

What I'm looking forward to:
We have set a start date for the contractors to begin the remodel of the nursery and I’m excited to get this done. The contractor said it should only take 1.5 weeks, but he also said our kitchen remodel would take 5 weeks and ended up taking three months. Realistically, I hope they are finished by the end of May, so we have two full months to decorate and get everything ready.

What I'm not looking forward to:
It’s Show week again, which means long work hours and working all weekend.

Pregnancy Reveal to Fox and our Family

Well, this video is about 4 months late, but I finally got around to putting it together.
I made a reveal video when we shared our news almost five years ago for Fox and it's still so special to me, that I had to record everyone's reaction this time as well.
I just love Fox's sweet voice and questions when we told him, he already seems so much older and more grown up now, but my all-time favorite were Grandma and Grandpa Jones' reactions! So funny!

23 Weeks Pregnancy Update

April 18, 2018

How far along:
23 weeks

Baby is the size of a:
Grapefruit or a Barbie doll. Huge!

Total weight gain:
Still 22lbs. Surprisingly I haven’t gained anything this week, but I’m sure I’ll catch up next week again!

Maternity Clothes?
Both, but mostly maternity clothes.

Stretch Marks?
Not yet.

Sleep?
Has been pretty bad this week, since Fox was sick and has been sleeping with us for a few nights. Still taking one bathroom break each night.

Best moment of the Week:
We emptied out the nursery in preparation for the contractors to come in and also did some baby shopping. I know we have tons of clothes from Fox, but Old Navy had a bunch of shirts on clearance for $1.47, so how can I resist that?

Movement:
Some days he’s going crazy in there. The other night he kicked me so hard, it woke me up!

Food Cravings:
I ate an entire giant watermelon by myself this week!

Belly Button in or out:
In.

Gender:
Sweet baby boy!

Symptoms:
Same as last week. Nothing too bad and I’m grateful for the way I feel right now.

Anything Making you queasy or Sick?
Feeling really good!

Have you Started to Show yet?
The other night we had dinner at a restaurant and the waitress started to make a comment about my belly, but then stopped herself pretty quickly, because she must have been second guessing herself if I was pregnant or not. Haha. People keep telling me that I’m still tiny…I’m sure the next four weeks or so will change that.

What I miss:
Sleeping through the night. I know it will just get worse once the baby is here and I’m super terrified of those sleepless nights. I remember them very vividly from Fox and I’m definitely a person who needs their sleep.

What I'm looking forward to:
I have my next doctor’s appointment in a few days! I think the doctor mentioned that we are done with ultrasounds for now, so that’s a bummer, but he also said we can probably schedule my repeat C-section date, so I’m looking forward to knowing the official date (unless he comes early of course).
I’m not sure if I mentioned it before, but I decided to go for another C-section this time around. My doctor said based on his notes from last time, there was no chance in hell a baby would come out the “natural way” unless he’s very, very early. I had a horrible experience with Fox’s birth and I don’t want to go through that again…to try for 24 hours, just to end up with another emergency C-section anyway. I’m looking forward to going into the hospital rested this time around, with childcare for Fox lined up and ready to go. Of course, this little guy could have other plans, but we’ll have to wait and see.

What I'm not looking forward to:
I’m starting to get a little anxious about the thought that Fox won’t be an only child anymore and how his world will change. I think in the long run, it will benefit him to have a sibling, but the adjustment might be hard. So every time I do something with just him and me, I wonder how this will be different soon and it makes me a little sad for him. I’m already dealing with major mom guilt every day and I know it’ll just get worse with two kids!

Easter 2018

Easter is usually pretty low key in our family. We always do an Easter Egg Hunt with Fox in the morning, he gets an Easter basket and we usually have dinner with the family at night.
This year, the Easter bunny brought Fox some superhero underwear, a new lego set, a Batman plate, some colored bath eggs, a PJ masks water bottle for school, PEZ candy, two hatchimal eggs, and some other small toys from the dollar spot at Target.

He was thrilled! The little ball he's holding contains a surprise stuffed animal and he's been collecting them for a few months. He calls them his buddies and they're all sleeping in his bed.

The Easter bunny was smart enough this year to hide the eggs in the front yard instead of the backyard, because our backyard is a mess right now.

He didn't want to carry his Easter basket around, so he just picked up as many eggs as he could and brought them back to his basket.

Happy with his loot!

He pretty much lost interest in opening the eggs after 20 or so and we spent the next few days opening them.
Overall he loved it though. He told me the next day that he likes Easter better than Christmas and he wishes that it was Easter every day.
I loved watching his joy and hearing his squeals so much! Holidays get me every single time, the moment I realize "Whoa, I get to do this with MY kid! I am a Mom!" It truly is the best and I'm enjoying every single minute of it until my kids tell me they're too old for this.

22 Weeks Pregnancy Update

April 11, 2018

How far along:
22 weeks

Baby is the size of a:
Corn on the Cobb or a Water Bottle. He weighs around 1lb now!

Total weight gain:
22lbs. I’m always shocked when I step on the scale every week, but I guess it is what it is. I gained a lot with Fox too, so I’m trying not to let it bother me, but it still does.

Maternity Clothes?
Both. Some of my regular shirts are getting too short now.

Stretch Marks?
Not yet.

Sleep?
Same as before. Rolling over is becoming a job.

Best moment of the Week:
A little bit of baby shopping and just spending time with Katie and Fox.

Movement:
Constantly. But once I put my hand on my belly, he stops, or when I try to record his kicks on camera, he calms down. Little stinker.

Food Cravings:
Nothing special.

Belly Button in or out:
In, but definitely flattening out.

Gender:
Sweet baby boy!

Symptoms:
Pregnancy Acne, although it has mostly moved to just my back now. I’m also getting out of breath easily and I lose my patience quickly these days. I’m starting to get backaches too, but I hope I have a few weeks before it becomes bad.

Anything Making you queasy or Sick?
Feeling really good!

Have you Started to Show yet?
Yes! Although my sister in law said I don’t look pregnant at all from the front, just from the side.

What I miss:
Same as last week: Sleeping through the night and some days I really crave soda.

What I'm looking forward to:
Getting really anxious to start the nursery. Katie pointed out last night that he won’t be sleeping in there for a while anyway, but I just want to get that room done before he arrives. I think it’ll be a while though!

What I'm not looking forward to:
Nothing.

March Re-Cap

It's April! Which means it's time to do a quick re-cap of our last month!
March was a month I was dreading for a very long time, because Katie went on a three week trip with her mom. I was so worried on how I would manage without her, because of my exhaustion and nausea, but timing couldn't have been more perfect, because both subsided the week before she left!
So here's what Fox and I were up to while Katie traveled the world!
We kicked off March with a Purim celebration at Fox's school! Fox was so excited to dress up and chose the Flash costume for the occasion. The kids had a parade and I couldn't stop smiling seeing him with all of his friends and having so much fun! He lit up when he spotted me in the crowd and came running up...he was so incredibly proud!

I seriously loved this time with him so much!

These are the kind of pictures his Grandma sent me while I was at work one day. Apparently Fox clogged the toilet and was excited that Grandpa had to unclog it.

Best Friends...these two boys have the sweetest friendship there ever was!

One weekend, we invited Fox's best friend and his sister to come to the dinosaur exhibition with us. We got free tickets through work and everyone was excited to check it out.

The tickets were usually super expensive ($34 per person) and the rides weren't even included with them. For that kind of money, the expo was so not worth it, but luckily we got in for free and the kids had so much fun!

Digging for dinosaur bones

Not sure what these ride on toys had to do with dinosaurs, but they were a hit nonetheless.

Another day, another playdate!
We bought this climbing structure two years ago and while I hate how big it is and how much space it takes up in our playroom, it's the one toy Fox has played with every single day since we got it. In fact, he and Katie are having a sleepover underneath (in their fort) as we speak!

Just a random afternoon in the playroom

I have wanted a Cricut machine for years and Katie surprised me with one before she left for her trip! I always buy so many shirts for special occasions on Etsy and now I can make them myself! My friend Lindsay, who has the same machine, came over one morning to teach me how to use it and we made my first onesie together.

Another project I made...can't wait to see my boys in them!

One weekend, there was a teeny tiny fair set up in our neighborhood and Fox loves the fair, so we went to check it out.
On the carousel

The only problem with fairs is, that Fox wants to play all the games to win something, so I spent an absurd amount of money on some stuffed animals that are going to end up in the trash hopefully sooner than later...haha. But he had a blast and still talks about it, so it was well worth it!

We were invited to Aunt Ashlie's house for dinner afterwards and Fox's other best friend (aka Grandpa) was there and if Fox's day hasn't been fun enough yet, it surely was now.

And that is where things went downhill. I had made it ten days without Katie and was super proud of myself and we were both rocking it. Until Fox started to get an 103 degree fever and threw up all over the bed in the middle of the night. So we rushed to Urgent Care where he was diagnosed with Strep Throat.
Poor little guy was so tired when we waited for his medication at the pharmacy.

The following days were a whirlwind of doctor visits, lots of vomit, fevers and little sleep. Fox didn't eat for four days and then developed an allergic reaction to his antibiotics. Getting him to take the meds was a nightmare, but we both powered through and made it in one piece!

He was super cuddly, always laying close to me and holding on to me in some way. Sweet boy!

It took about a week before he got better and I was so relieved when he did. This is the sickest he has ever been in his almost four years of life and I know we can call ourselves lucky that strep is the worst that has ever happened to him, but it's still sad to see your baby so miserable.

One day Fox went to play in his bedroom and I went to check on him after a few minutes, because he was awfully quiet and found him like this. Just reading a book in his cockpit. Totally melted my heart.

The week before Easter, we went to a Helicopter Easter Egg drop at a local church. They had some bounce houses and face painting, followed by the egg drop and Easter egg hunt. I was surprised how well Fox did on the hunt, considering that there were tons of older children and he had just gotten better. Unfortunately, he couldn't eat much of the candy that was in the eggs, because of his allergies, but he took the disappointment like a champ and was happy about the one item he was able to eat. I was proud of him.

As a special treat, I took him to In and Out afterwards and he declared it was his favorite restaurant.

I bought this wooden Easter bunny three years ago on Clearance, but Fox was never interested in painting it before...until now. I can probably thank school for that! We hung it on the front door and he was proud to show it off!
And that wraps up the month of March!
We were both so happy when Katie got back and I can't wait to see what April has in store for us!

21 Weeks Pregnancy Update

April 4, 2018
How far along:
21 weeks

Baby is the size of a:
Carrot or a baseball hat. That’s pretty big!

Total weight gain:
21lbs

Maternity Clothes?
Still wearing both

Stretch Marks?
Not yet.

Sleep?
Weird and vivid dreams and getting up once for the bathroom. I also feel like I don’t get any deep sleep anymore, every time I need to turn, I wake up.

Best moment of the Week:
Katie coming home and celebrating Easter with Fox. I can’t believe we will have another child next Easter and I already ordered his Easter basket! We also did a little bit of baby shopping this week, it was the very last day our Babies R us was open and they had everything 85% off. It was kind of sad leaving that store for the very last time, because I have so many good memories going there…from creating our first registry and baby shopping for Fox to safety and breastfeeding classes. I really liked that store!

Movement:
All the time, especially when I lay down at night.

Food Cravings:
Salad this week.

Belly Button in or out:
In, but definitely flattening out.

Gender:
Sweet baby boy!

Symptoms:
Nothing new.

Anything Making you queasy or Sick?
Nothing. So grateful for the way I feel right now!

Have you Started to Show yet?
Depending on what I wear that day, I can either look super pregnant or not pregnant at all! Comparing the belly bump to Fox’s pregnancy, I feel like they’re about the same size.

What I miss:
Sleeping through the night and some days I really crave soda.

What I'm looking forward to:
Starting on the nursery! Unfortunately, our contractor is on vacation right now, so he hasn’t even come over yet.

What I'm not looking forward to:
Nothing.

20 Weeks Pregnancy Update

March 28, 2018

How far along:
20 weeks – halfway! I can’t believe it!

Baby is the size of a:
Banana or a paper airplane

Total weight gain:
Apparently I gained 3lbs this week…ouch! Up 20lbs total.

Maternity Clothes?
Both.

Stretch Marks?
Not yet.

Sleep?
Pretty good. Getting up once to use the bathroom.

Best moment of the Week:
Getting my anatomy scan results back. Baby looks perfect and the only thing the doctor mentioned is that my placenta is very low right now. He said in most cases it moves up later on, so not to worry about it right now.

Movement:
Every day, but especially at night, when I lay down. I can now also feel him from the outside and see his kicks if I watch my belly closely. Can’t wait for Katie to come home to feel him as well.

Food Cravings:
None.

Belly Button in or out:
In.

Gender:
Sweet baby boy!

Symptoms:
Pregnancy Acne and getting out of breath easily. But I really can’t complain, I’m so glad to be feeling normal right now.

Anything Making you queasy or Sick?
Nothing.

Have you Started to Show yet?
Getting there. One of my friends from Fox’s school keeps commenting how tiny I am, every time she sees me, but I feel pretty big already and wouldn’t have it any other way.

What I miss:
Still Katie! She is coming back tonight though, so I’m super excited. This week was hard. Fox and I barely left the house with him still being sick and we both got cabin fever.
Pregnancy wise, I don’t miss anything right now. Maybe sleeping on my back and stomach.

What I'm looking forward to:
We are planning to start the remodel of the nursery once Katie gets back, so I’m anxious to start and being able to prepare the nursery.

What I'm not looking forward to:
Nothing right now!
