Hitting the Slopes

It’s been three years since I’ve stood on skies. I thought I would have to start from scratch and start on the bunny hill, but as it turns out, it is like riding a bike and it came right back to me.

We went to Flagstaff last weekend, which is only about two hours from Phoenix and even though it was super crowded, it was a lot of fun. Katie was my cheerleader, or maybe more like a drill sergeant, always pushing me to my limits, yelling “go faster”!

I made it really clear, that I had no intentions in going on a “black diamond”, which is the hardest and steepest trail. I don’t know how she did it, but somehow she convinced this random guy who was riding the lift with us, to tell me that the lift I was taking was going to a blue trail, which is easier, but when we got off, it turned out it was a black diamond after all. Although I was ready to kill her for doing this to me, I’m glad she did and this run turned out to be the most fun of the day.

I’m hoping we’re able to go skiing one more time this year, before the season ends!

The Birds and the Bees

I know it was a long shot. Did I really think that a bee sting would solve all of my problems and get me pregnant? Maybe not, but combined with a shitload of injectable medications that produced so many eggs that I could’ve easily starred in my own TLC reality Show...I thought I had a shot.
For a moment I wasn’t afraid that I wouldn’t be pregnant once again, I was afraid that we would get 5 babies instead of one. Turns out we don’t even get one.
I saw it coming though. There was no flicker of hope in me whatsoever, so I wasn’t too surprised when I saw this, once again:

I hate these sticks. Hate them.
This cycle, I stopped praying that I would get pregnant and started praying to God to give me strength instead. The strength to deal with whatever was coming my way. I knew I couldn’t handle another meltdown. I knew Katie couldn’t handle another meltdown. And I knew there were so many worse things in this world than a negative pregnancy test. But I also knew that this was my last try.

But let’s get back to the bee sting. I had a few people asking me how it went, so here’s the rundown of events. When we were told to go to a bee farm, I didn’t think it would be in somebody’s house. It was kind of weird. Buying an epipen just in case I’m allergic hurt more than the bee sting itself. $125 for the peace of mind? What a rip-off! In the end, the beekeeper traded me the epipen for a free bee sting. Two stings to be exact. So we were sitting on his couch, I rolled up my pants, he brought in two bees and pressed their bodies against my leg until they stung me. It was fast and hurt for about a minute. He took out their stingers and we waited for a few minutes to see if I had any reactions and that was that.

Was fuer eine Abzockerei!

I think the bee sting was the tip of the iceberg for me. I couldn’t even imagine what kind of procedure my doctor would suggest next, but I had no intentions in finding out either.

It’s beyond me how people have “accidents” all the time, how they have Sex once and get knocked up, not thinking about timing, not taking drugs, not doing anything different.
People, who got pregnant when I started trying are having their babies now. It’s hard.

It’s also beyond me how I spent $17,000 in medical bills in six months and didn’t get one step closer. I’m desperately trying to remember how this is all going to be worth it in the end, the shots, the tears, the money and how none of this will matter when I get my miracle.
Although, I’m not going to lie, I’m more than pissed off that I wasted three months with the protocol and it was all for nothing. There’s no way around it, it was a waste. All of it.

With the procedure we were doing, the national average is four tries. Most doctors say, if you haven't gotten pregnant by the third try, you most likely won't get pregnant this way. Needless to say that I'm done, this was #6 for us. My body is clearly not having it.

Moving on!

Mein Körper will einfach nicht kooperieren.

Moving on!
