August iPhone Dump

Let's see what we did in August...although without looking at the pictures, I assume it involved a lot of staying home and avoiding the heat.
Finn is my cuddler and I'm loving it. Fox has never been like this, so I'm soaking it in whenever I can, because I know my days are numbered.

This reminded me of his baby days, sleeping with his butt up in the air.

As I mentioned before, we finished up our monthly photo shoots with our photographer. I love every single picture and wish I could've done this when Fox was little.

"Free write Friday"...his teacher told him he could write about anything he wanted and this is what he wrote: Finn drives me crazy!
I was laughing so hard when I saw this, but I know he loves his brother fiercely as well.

One day, I made the boys all kinds of food for lunch. Mac and Cheese, hot dogs, carrots and pretzels with hummus, cheese and a grilled cheese that's not pictured. Finn was so upset, because all he wanted was pancakes. He's been asking me to make pancakes almost daily, but I only make them in the morning. Feeding them (and myself) is my least favorite thing...anyone else?

I have a love/hate relationship about them sleeping with me. I don't get a great sleep because someone always needs to touch me or kicks me or uses me as a pillow. But on the other hand I know that they are only little once and one day they won't want to sleep with me anymore. I get some rest when they're with Katie, so for now, I'm allowing it, no matter what other people think about it. The days (or nights in this case) are long, but the years are short.

The boys' favorite Friday tradition (when I have them): going to In n Out for dinner.

He stole my heart!

When we went to the Great Wolf Lodge, Fox saw a girl who wore these pajamas. He immediately said that he wanted them too, I think mostly because they looked comfy and are green, since he doesn't know what Minecraft is. It's still a little too hot here to wear them, but we are getting there. He is just like me, if he could, he would stay in pajamas 24/7.

This smart boy here has figured out how to push the step stool to the fridge, climb up and open it to get his own snacks. I'm not even kidding, this kid is constantly eating and Katie and I joke about it all the time. Fox is a very picky eater and always has been, so I'm glad Finn likes to venture out a little bit and try different things.

Another day of distance learning.

This was PE, he had a lot of fun building this tower and continued to do so during his lunch break.

He wanted me to spike up his hair and was very proud.

Of course Finn wanted to get in on the action as well.

We made cookies one day and the boys were excited to make them, but no one ate them in the end. Maybe I'm not a good baker, although I thought they were pretty good.

Finn always has to touch me in some way, he's so cute. I hope he will continue to be my snuggle bug for a while.

After 2 years, my picture wall in the hallway is finally finished and I'm obsessed!

Working hard...in his pajamas of course.

I don't remember what was going on here, but he sure is cute.

Fox's best friend that he's known since he's three came over for a playdate. Fox could not wait and told me he would wait by the door and waited there for at least 20 minutes. I love their little friendship and how much they love each other. Fox told me that he will marry Dylan one day.

First Day of School 2020

How do I have a first grader?!?!

School looked a lot different this year than it did last year. When we started distance learning in the spring, I hated it and couldn't wait for him to go back to school. Funny enough, when we were given the choice between going back in person or continuing distance learning until January, I chose to keep him home (luckily Katie had the same opinion as me).
It's been two months of this now and I have to admit, I really enjoy this, and wish we could do this all year, but I don't know if we will get the option after January. We all get to sleep until 8am every day, we stay in pajamas or comfy clothes all day, don't have to drive 20 min each way to school, plus deal with the horrendous car line. Parents are currently not allowed to walk their kids up to the gate, so everyone has to use the carline. I heard that it takes 40 minutes just to get through it and having to do this twice a day, plus driving back and forth, Finn and I would spend almost three hours in the car each day. No thank you!
I also love having him home and Finn gets to play with his brother during breaks, which often gives me a much needed break. But more importantly, Fox didn't want to go back to regular school and preferred doing school from home, so I'm glad we were all on the same page.

Five years of back to school pictures!

We continued our first day of school tradition by getting ice cream after school. We hadn't been there in a long time and Finn got his own cup for the very first time, which he loved (he picked bubblegum).
It was a great start of the school year!

Great Wolf Lodge

I always strive to make special time with just Fox, because I feel he often gets left behind since Finn needs so much of my attention. On the last day of summer break, I asked Katie if I could have him (it was her weekend with the kids) and I surprised him with a staycation at the Great Wolf Lodge.
We had never been there, but I was just as excited as him to check it out together.

If you know Fox, you know that he loves sleeping in hotels. I remember taking him on a cruise when he was just 1.5 years old and all he wanted was to stay in the room. This continued on every trip we went on...when he was two we took him to Disneyland and he claimed for months after, that his favorite part of the trip was the hotel room.

This was the view from our room, we got there right at check in and I asked him if he wanted to go to the water park, but he claimed he just wanted to stay in the room...ha!

We made it to the water park and it was amazing!

I loved going down the water slides with him and having that special time with just him, we had so much fun!

We spent about two hours in the water park and then decided to check out the rest of the hotel. They had a magic quest game there that we played for a few hours. We had to go on special missions and find things around the hotel, I probably got 10,000 steps in that day, just by playing this game.

Before the pandemic started, Fox and I had plans to have a special day with just us that we called "yes day". Unfortunately it never happened, so I told him this would be his "yes day", which meant he would get anything he wanted within reason. We had never done a Build a bear, and he wanted to do it, so my answer was "yes"...even though I was cringing to pay $50 for a stuffed animal...haha!

We did this ropes course as well, which I was very excited about, but I wasn't allowed to take my phone to take any pictures up there. Fox was really terrified at some points during the course, but he pushed through and faced his fears. I was so proud of him.

Lollipops and ice cream was next!

I guess "Wolfie" was worth the money, because Fox really loved on him the entire time we were there and for days after. Now Finn has claimed him!

Dinner with my best kid! I don't think I ever had a sit down dinner with just him and it was really special to me.
We played until 10pm and then went up to the hotel room. It was a super short stay, but I loved every minute of it and can't wait to take him back. He asked me if we could go there every weekend he was with Katie, but we settled on another stay around Christmas time, which I already booked and this time we'll be taking Finn as well!
