January iPhone dump

January 2022...also known as the longest month of the year, I thought it would never end. We all got Covid, but all nicely spread out, so we were home for the majority of the month. I don't do well being stuck at home with the kids, because the whining and arguing about screen time never ends, and in the end, I feel like a shit ass mom because they got what they wanted. But we made it out of it...phew!

I started off the year with a bucket list, because it keeps me motivated throughout the year.

I'm not sure what was going on here, but he's cute.

Sleepy mornings. This guy is the best cuddler ever, and I hope it will be a long time before he's too cool too cuddle with Mama.

It seems like they take turns sleeping on top of each other when they share a bed. Fox usually sleeps in his own bed because he claims that Finn is too wild of a sleeper, when in reality, it's totally him!

You know he's really sick when he takes a nap. Fox got it the worst between all of us (Katie and Christina had it as well), and luckily Finn had zero symptoms.

Big things were happening at the Jones house this January. I thought this day would never, ever come, but I'm so glad it did. If you know me, or have read this blog for a while, you know how much I love babies, and always wanted more. All of my friends knew they felt done after they had their second child, but I was just never there. I don't know what happened, but over the last few months it just clicked for me, and I felt officially done as well. That was so huge for me. So I decided it was time to go through all of the baby clothes, because I knew I wanted to make a big quilt out of some of the clothes, and then donate the rest.

It was quite the ordeal, and felt bittersweet, but mostly sad. Katie came over one afternoon to go through clothes together and we reminisced about all the little outfits and the memories we had about them.
And when the bags finally left my house, I felt good and at peace.

At the end of the month we were finally able to leave the house and see our friends again, and it never felt better.

Finn and I visited the zoo while the weather is still so perfect.

Trampoline hair! After about 1.5 years of growing his hair out, Fox told us a couple of weeks ago that he is ready to get it cut. It'll be so weird to see him with short hair again, but I hope he'll love his new haircut.

Another zoo date with cousin Beckett and baby Aila.

Finn loves doing puzzles. Fox never did, but this kid will puzzle for hours.

He also loves helping in the kitchen. On this day we made some dinner for our friend Becky, who just had surgery.
I was so happy when January was over, and while February was still pretty rough, I'm finally on a better path now (emotionally), and I'm ready for all of our spring adventures.

December iPhone dump

We had such a fun December, and while I already blogged most of our adventures, here are some random pictures that didn't make it.
My friend Corinne invited me to go to a basketball game with her. Her husband works for the team, and I hadn't been to one in many years, but absolutely loved it.

We continued our weekly playdates with Marcela and Simon, and many of these playdates were at the "duck park", as Finn likes to call it. We had bought some duck food, and they were all going crazy for it.

We spent some time with Grandma Nene while she was in town.

One of my favorite events each year is my annual cookie and gift exchange with my friends.

This year we decided to exchange toys for the bedroom, and the things some people brought were hilarious.

My first time at the Trans-Siberian Orchestra!

Random sunrise on the way to school one morning.

I feel like we painted Christmas ornaments all month long.

I already blogged about our visit with Santa, but here are some shots I took with my phone while we were waiting and after the shoot.
Fox and "Snowflake the elf" had a snowball fight.

We have an orange tree in the yard, and almost every day in December, Finn insisted to pick oranges and make orange juice. Which basically meant, I picked them, I had to juice them, and I also had to drink the juice. I don't know why he loved it so much, but he just wanted to watch the process I guess.
Also...always thankful for friends who will take "secret" pictures of me when I'm with the boys.

This was our first time juicing them, he still liked it the first time, but was over it quickly after.

We went to a Christmas farm one night, which is always one of my favorite things to do with the boys.

Some random shots of Finn pouting in random spaces...haha.

He loved decorating the Christmas tree with me this year. We worked on it for days, and when we were all out of ornaments, he wanted to buy more, so we could decorate more. We already have four Christmas trees in our house, but this boy could not get enough of decorating.

We had some perfect days at the zoo.

Katie took the boys sledding one weekend, and I was super sad to miss their first time in the snow.

He loves marble runs (this is at Katie's house).

The boys and I loved to watch Christmas movies over break and have hot cocoa, so I made us a little hot cocoa bar.

Fox was teaching us about a science experiment he did at school, and he was very proud to teach us something new.

We have the best friends. Fox's friend Jake sent him a riddle to decode via snail mail. Fox was so excited to open the letter and solve the riddle.

Marshmallows with a splash of hot cocoa!

Tilly and I took all the boys to Red Robin for Dinner, and as usual, it was a wild night.

But oh so fun!

On Christmas eve, I received a special Christmas present in form of a large water leak that came through my roof and stayed in the wall. I have never seen such a thing. Apparently roofers are very busy these days, because it's been two months, and I'm still on the waiting list to get my roof fixed. Hopefully we won't get too much rain until then.

One day, while Tilly and the boys were over, Finn came running in from the backyard, claiming that there was a snake. Sure enough, we found it and Tilly rescued the little guy and took it to a new home, far away from my backyard. Bless her soul...I wouldn't have touched that thing!
And that wraps up our very busy, and fun, December!
