Finn | Week 11

Finn is 11 weeks old!

He has been such a good sleeper this week! While naps were usually short, he slept 8-9 hours straight every night, followed by another 3 hour stretch. Fingers crossed it'll stay this way!

Brothers telling secrets!

First time in his "Sit me up"

We enjoyed some cooler temperatures in the front yard.

It was late, I was tired, but this little dude snuggled right into me and I couldn't put him down because I know that time is a thief.

We have been taking family walks around the neighborhood at night and both boys have been loving it.

Such a happy baby!

Finn | 2 Month Update

Weight:
10 lbs, 10 oz

Height:
22.75 inches

Health:
Finn had his two month check up and looked perfect as can be!

Nicknames:
Big Honey, Finny, Finnegan (Katie hates when I call him that)

Eating:
Breastfeeding is going perfectly and I love it. He usually eats every 2-3 hours during the day and goes up to seven hours at night. I’m kind of getting used to not having any dairy anymore, although I do miss a lot of things.

Sleeping:
I really can’t complain in the sleep department. Most nights he will sleep a 7 hour stretch, followed by another 3 hour stretch, the longest he has ever slept was 8.5 hours straight. He goes to bed around 7pm, which is very predictable, he won’t make it any longer than that and most days he’s up for the day around 5:30-6am. Naps are pretty good as well, when we are home I always put him in his crib for naps to get him used to it (he also starts his nighttime sleep in his crib and then we bring him in our room into the bassinet when we go to bed), but since we have to bring Fox to school and pick him up, a lot of naps happen in the car as well. Some naps are 30 minutes, some are two hours.

Diapers:
We transitioned him into a size 1 diaper now and I hope he’ll be in those for a while, because we have tons of diaper boxes in that size.

Clothing:
He wears 0-3 months clothes now. I was really excited when he transitioned into those, because we have so much more choices now, but it was also very sad to retire the newborn stuff for good. This Mama is emotional!

Social:
He became so fun this month! He constantly smiles at us, especially when we get him up from his nap or when he first wakes up in the morning. I love his smiles and my heart melts into a puddle of mush every time. He also started cooing this month!
Finn already had a few playdates this month, although he doesn’t seem too interested in other babies yet. We also started swim classes at 8 weeks.

Likes:
Bath time (he loves it!), being held, being carried in the baby wrap, being swaddled to sleep, nursing, sleeping, being held over my shoulder, his sound machine, chewing on his fist or arm, bicycle legs, his big brother, his bouncy seat (although only in the mornings)

Dislikes:
Not being held upright (over the shoulder), when tummy time takes too long, when we put him down on the bed and walk away to do something

Mama:
I’m doing really great and it’s nice to have my body back, not be in pain and to sleep on my stomach again. I’m in a much better emotional state than I was last month and I’m really, really enjoying having a baby. It’s really my favorite stage and I wish every day that I could keep him little forever. I’m having a hard time coming to the realization that this will be my last baby though and while I hated pregnancy, I really wish we could have more, but Katie is done for sure. I knew this was going to happen, but I didn’t think it would be so hard on me. I was really hoping that I would feel “done” after having him, like so many of my friends told me they felt after having their second, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case at all for me. Give me all the babies!

Fox:
Fox is still such a great big brother. He really loves his baby and wants to touch and kiss him all the time. He’s not a big fan of holding him, but always wants to rub his cheek on Finn’s head and give him kisses. I love when he tells Finn that he loves him, so sweet.
This month, he also made a huge regression when it comes to potty training. He has been potty trained since he was two, but now he has started to have multiple accidents a day, mostly at school. Of course I wonder if that has anything to do with having a new sibling. We I asked him why he does it, he told me one time that he wants to be like Baby Finn. I hope this phase passes soon.

Fun things we did:
Finn started swim classes this month and while he didn’t show much excitement being in the pool, he didn’t seem to hate it either.
He also went to his first pumpkin patch and had some playdates! We have been out and about almost every day and he’s been a great little tag along.

Any Harry Potter fans?

What we’re looking forward to:
Starting music class, more pumpkin patches, Halloween, and going to Disney in a few weeks!

The perfect day

You've probably heard me complain about the heat during Pumpkin Patch season for years now. Well, low and behold, we are having an unusual "cold" October and it has been simply amazing!
After a good rainstorm, my friend Kristy and I packed up the boys and headed to one of our favorite pumpkin patches. I think this must be the fourth or even fifth year that we have taken the boys there together and I'm so glad they still love each other's company as much as Kristy and I do.

I had a last minute idea to make matching shirts for the boys and I think they looked so cute together.

The hay maze is always a big hit! Apparently Jake told Fox that there was an invisible scorpion in the maze and Fox came running out terrified.

We took the hayride to the pumpkin patch and had it all to ourselves!

Remember at the last pumpkin patch the boys had plotted to run away from all the pictures? Apparently it was so much fun last time that they had to do it again, which kind of ended up being in my favor since I was able to capture some real smiles and the fun they had together.

Taking the train back to the farm

Kristy is always happy to get silly with the boys!

While running away from the pictures turned out to be a big hit, mining for gold must have been Fox's favorite on that particular day. I think I mentioned before that he is obsessed with all things gold, so this was right up his alley and he probably spent a good hour there.

The kids had the choice to trade all of their gold for candy at the gift shop, but Fox decided to keep his instead and still talks about this experience every day and asks to go back.

Looking for more gold!

I had planned to spend around two hours there and we ended up staying for five, nobody wanted the fun to end!

Kristy made another video of our day and I love it so much! When she sent it to me I couldn't stop smiling while watching it, I loved reliving our day and seeing the boys have so much fun together.
It was truly the perfect day, not just weather wise!
