Laundry Room Makeover

I guess it's fair to say that it's always a bad sign, when your washer and dryer starts to eat your clothes, ripping holes in them left and right and the clothes don't really come out any cleaner than when you put them in.
Well, I guess that's what you get when you buy them used and abuse them for three more years.
We have a huge "to do" list of house projects we would like to get done and we were actually saving to get our house painted, but when Katie's new sweater came out of the dryer with four quarter size holes in it, she readily agreed to let our HOA complain for a little bit longer about the age of our housepaint and go shopping for a new washer and dryer instead.
I've been dreaming for some frontloaders for quite some time and when I knew I was getting new machines, I was beyond excited and I just knew I had to go all the way and do a complete laundry room makeover.
This is the piece of crap I had to deal with, I took the picture after I had already cleaned up all of the clutter on the shelve, and believe it, it was so cluttered, I could've applied to star in an episode of "Hoarders"

First off, we needed new paint, that yellow eye sore was there before we moved in and believe it or not, almost every single room in this house was painted in this color! Eek!
I'm not going to lie, it took some convincing to have Katie agree to this color, but now she loves it almost as much as me. Almost.

Here I go!

And just as a side note, I painted this room only a few days before Zuma had his first seizure, and if you know our dog, you know that he HATES any kind of change. It's a running joke over here that the color of the laundry room put him so much over the edge that this is what caused his seizure. Stressed him out way too much! Like I said, we're joking now, but back then, I felt so guilty and was so conviced that this was true, that I did ask the vet if the thought it was the possible trigger. He said "no" by the way, so I was off the hook! Phew!

Puh!
Oh yeah, and we also found someone who was incredibly happy to score this "great condition" washer and dryer for $150!
I took that money and spent it immediately on my makeover! Of course the new washer and dryer didn't fit in that $150 makeover budget, but everything else you see, including the paint, was less than $150!
Alright, nuff said, may I present to you: My new favorite room in the house!

When I installed the Light (okay okay, when I watched Katie's Dad install the light) Katie said only rednecks have Chandeliers in the Laundry Room, but I LOVE IT. I'm sure, secretly she loves it too! :)

What an amazing re-do of your laundry room.
The front loaders are definitely very popular amongst the blogging community.

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

We took some family pictures this fall!

August iPhone dump

Some moments from my August... Coffee treats during busy shifts! Fox had a pool playdate with some friends. First day of middle school! Unfortunately I had to work and couldn't send him off that day, but my favorite co-parent came through with some pictures from the bus stop. Found a bunch of these selfies on my phone haha. On the way to school one morning, middle school is rough apparently. A quick brunch with friends to celebrate the end of summer break! My sweet friend Nikki gave me this bucket full of beautiful dresses that she had outgrown. A lot of them still had tags on them! Dinner date with the boys, they preferred playing a game together instead of talking to me...haha! Homework struggles have begun again! Sweet treats after school while we wait for Finn to get off the bus. Unfortunately their buses arrive an hour apart from each other, so we have a lot of waiting around because the bus stop is too far from my house.  He was helping me make schnitzel! We watched Bad guys ...
