Pushing Limits

I always thought I had a good stamina. But last weekend taught me otherwise. I was pushing all of my limits and had the hardest workout of my life.
I've been living in Arizona for almost three years and have been talking about hiking Camelback Mountain ever since. Okay, I admit, I never ever hiked in my life, but it seemed like a good idea, after all, how hard could it possibly be to climb up a hill? It turned out, VERY. Because the "hill" was a mountain and I imagined the climbing part more as a steep walk on a trail, but it was, indeed, climbing.
I'm telling you, it was brutal. At least for me. Julia didn't seem to get out of breath at all and made it seem like a walk in the park.
The thing is, I don't quit things. I hate quitting and I'm glad I didn't, because I would've missed the gorgeous views over our beautiful city.

All photos were taken with an IPhone, therefore the bad quality, next time I need to bring my camera!

Don't let this picture fool you, this was the beginning and the real climbing started later!

When we arrived at the top, all I wanted to do is stay there forever. Not because of the view, but I was beyond exhausted and couldn't imagine how I would ever make it down. So we stayed and enjoyed the view.

Eventually, it was time to go and I can honestly say, without Julia pushing me, I probably would still be there today.

I've never felt this tired in my life and it took me a good three hours at home and a little nap to recover.
I probably won't be ready to climb Camelback again this weekend, but I'm looking forward to next time and maybe I should hit the treadmill a few times before, just so I won't slow Julia down as much as I did!:)

April phone dump

Some more pictures of our April. He's my bed hog, but I love sharing the bed with him and the way he comes find me in his sleep to snuggle up to me. Work Crew! Easter Preparations...it took me a solid hour to fill all the eggs. Finn chipped his permanent front tooth, and had to get it fixed. He was so brave. I tried to hold his hand to let him know I was there, and he kept giving me a thumbs up. Reading in bed with them is my favorite. We went to play mini golf, and it was an absolutely shit show. Just look at Finn in the background, he was on fire on this day. That's his "cool face". Not pictured are all the times he melted down because he wasn't "good enough". I really need to stop playing this game with him, because it happens every single time...haha.  Book Club! I wasn't a fan of the book, but it was great getting out and talking about books with other readers. He got into kinetic sand for a few weeks, and I felt like my floors were covered in s...

Germany

I took a quick trip to Germany over spring break while the boys were on vacation with Katie. My dad had some medical issues over the past year, and it had been almost two years since I went, but a trip that was supposed to be five days in Germany, ended up being only four days because of flight delays. When in Germany for the first time, you HAVE to try Mettbroetchen. Needless to say, she was not a fan haha. A trip down memory lane is always on the agenda for the first day, walking around my village, visiting the homes where I grew up in (which are luckily still owned by my family), visiting my grandparent's graves, and eating all my favorite foods.  My only living grandparent, and one of the main reasons I wanted to go visit. It was so special to spend time with her. We had doener almost every day! Family dinner at my favorite restaurant one night, I absolutely loved how many people were able to join us even though it was very short notice. We also had breakfast at my grandma'...

August phone dump

It's September, and I couldn't be more excited for what's to come...Fall, Halloween, Christmas...it's my favorite time of year. But let's look back at our August! I've had them fill out the same back to school form since they started school many years ago. When all the kids go back to school, us moms celebrate with a back to school brunch and it was everything my heart needed and more! So many good conversations, so many laughs, and getting to hold baby Nora was the icing on the cake! Playdate with some friends! Fox read with me in the car while we were waiting for Finn's bus...it made me so happy! He asked me to make him an "ultimate chill space" while he was at school, and this is what I came up with. He approved, and even tried to have a sleepover with me there, but we only made it for about an hour, before we went to bed. I took the kids, and one of Fox's friend to the water park one afternoon and it was perfect. Finn braved the high dive f...
