My Once Upon a Time...

I remember my hospital stay with Fox as a complete nightmare. I was so out of it and we had tons of people there with us at any given moment, so I was unable to rest or hold my own baby, so this time, I swore I would do it differently. I just wanted to rest and bond with Finn and enjoy some peace and quiet while I was recovering from the surgery. And looking back, it was perfect and even felt like a mini vacation. I stayed for three nights and could've easily stayed longer (hello room service!), but I think they were ready to kick me out and there was no reason for them to keep me any longer. The recovery was so much easier than the first one, they made me get up and walk around only a few hours after the birth and I was able to shower the next day, with Fox these things didn't happen until the night of day three. Katie stayed with me for two nights and I was by myself for the third night, so she could go home and be with Fox.  This is basically all he did dur...

This big kid was so ready for his first day of Pre-K!  He went to summer camp at his school all summer long, so his first day wasn't a huge adjustment for him, besides the fact that he got two new teachers. Last year, there were two 3-year old classes and we were told that they would mix those classes up for the two Pre-K classes, so we were praying all summer long that Fox would still be with his best friend Dylan after the summer. I was so anxious when we went to his "Meet the teachers" event the day before school started and it couldn't have been more perfect, because he not only got the two teachers I was hoping for, he is also still in the same class as his three best friends from last year.  He was so excited to be "the biggest kid in school" (Pre-K is the oldest class they have at his preschool) and every day when I pick him up, he asks me if he can stay longer and if I can pick him up much later the next day. We just love his school and...

I was scheduled for a repeat c-section for August 8th. I had to have a c-section with Fox, because he was too big to fit through my pelvis and after I had been in labor with him for 24 hours, it was decided that I needed a c-section. My doctor had told me during this pregnancy that there was no chance this baby would come vaginally, unless he was born many weeks early. Based on my awful birth experience with Fox, I had no doubt in my mind that I wanted the c-section, in fact, I was looking forward into going into the hospital after a good night's sleep and knowing when it will all happen. Little did I know that Finn had other plans. The weekend before he was born was very stressful for me emotionally. Without going into the details, it was one of the hardest times in my life and after I didn't feel him move as much and losing six pounds in just a few days, I went to my doctor on Monday morning, July 30th, to ask for a non stress test to make sure he was okay. July seems to have been the longest month in history. I look at these pictures and it seems like it was a million years ago. The reason for that might have been that our lives have changed so much since then or maybe just because it was a long, hard month. But instead of re-living the hard times, let's take a look at some of my favorite memories from July. Every 4th of July I make a collage of his pictures throughout the years and it seems like just yesterday that I wrapped him up in the american flag for his very first 4th of July picture. I love to watch him and see his imagination at play! We took Fox to his very favorite place one weekend and he was so excited. It's an indoor playground and he did so well on their rock climbing area. I started to assemble some baby gear, including our stroller and Fox just had to try out the bassinet.
