Trip with friends

For the last few years I had dreams about renting a cabin up in the mountains with a bunch of moms and our kids, and this year, we actually did it. Marcela and I carpooled there, while two of our other friends met us up north.

They were ready to explore the house we rented. It was such a beautiful space, and so perfect for our group.

The kids all fought over the bunks in the beginning, when us moms knew well enough that half of those kids would end up in our beds when it came to bedtime.

The yard led right into some wooded area, and it was perfect to let the kids run around and explore.

Someone brought a shark costume, so of course Fox had to try it on.

All the moms!

The kids were so cute, and made a plan to serve us drinks (these are sparkling waters), appetizers and dinner.

The spent hours in the kitchen, preparing food and serving us in the Master suite.

They even made a menu!

I was absolutely shocked that Fox participated in it, but loved that he did.

This is what they made!

Apparently they liked cooking for us so much that they made plans to wake up early and prepare breakfast for us too.

How cute is this? Fox made is for me and served it on the patio.

The kids wanted to do the ropes course, and while my boys had just done it a few weeks earlier, they were excited to do it again.

We grabbed lunch after the ropes course, and then headed to our next adventure!

My friend Jessica heard about this barefoot trail, and none of us had done it before. The floor was kind of hot, but other than that, it was a really fun experience, and my kids even said it was their favorite part of the day.

They had different obstacles, and ziplines al throughout the course.

So happy!

Jessica asked me if I would come sit on the couch with her and read after dinner...say less! This was absolute perfection. The kids were running around playing and we just got to sit and read our books together. Core memory right here.

Marcela brought some temporary tattoos.

Finn had such a good time with his friends, he was off doing his own thing the entire time we were there, and not a single soul asked about screen time.

After we checked out of the rental the next day, we made a quick stop downtown to shop and have lunch, before returning back to Phoenix's heat.

I loved this trip so much, it was better than I could've imagined, and we are already planning a winter trip!

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

We took some family pictures this fall!

March iPhone dump

A look back at the month of March! Fox and I had a few hours to ourselves while Finn was at a birthday party, and he wanted to go shopping at Target and get some Starbucks. Sounds like my kind of date! This is where you can find him most days, playing games with his friends online, while simultaneously being on facetime with them. When did he get so big? Family game night outside! My sour patch kid. He told me he will still cuddle with me until he is 42...haha! I've been having a really hard time sharing parenting time lately. It kills me every time when I have to drop them off every other week for a stretch of five days, and I have been getting anxiety attacks. I know they are well taken care of, I know they have fun there and don't even think about me, but it still sucks. Whenever I'm not with them, I'm at work, and I guess it's just been extra hard because I never had to be away from them as much as I have since becoming a nurse.  Fox brought this home from schoo...
