Finn's 4th Birthday

My little "Fournado" turned four at the end of July. Time flies!
This must have been the first time since becoming a parent that I was actually looking forward to one of my kids getting older. Three was rough...not just rough, it was exhausting, frustrating, and I was more than happy to see it go. I knew Finn wouldn't magically wake up on his fourth birthday and everything would be different, but it was just one step into going into the right direction, and I remember four being an awesome age with Fox.

He was so excited that morning to see all of his decorations, and to open his gifts.

He decided that he didn't want to have an actual birthday party with his friends, but rather go to the Great Wolf Lodge with one special friend at a later date. We had a big party when he turned three, and I would confidently say that he absolutely hated it. He doesn't like being the center of attention or when there's too many people and kids at our house.

So in lieu of a big party, we just had some of the family over for a low key pizza dinner and cake, per Finn's request.

Everyone commented how Fox decided to "dress up" for Finn's birthday by staying in his pajamas...ha! I don't blame him, I like to stay in my pajamas too when we don't go anywhere.
It was a great night celebrating our favorite four year old!

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

March iPhone dump

A look back at the month of March! Fox and I had a few hours to ourselves while Finn was at a birthday party, and he wanted to go shopping at Target and get some Starbucks. Sounds like my kind of date! This is where you can find him most days, playing games with his friends online, while simultaneously being on facetime with them. When did he get so big? Family game night outside! My sour patch kid. He told me he will still cuddle with me until he is 42...haha! I've been having a really hard time sharing parenting time lately. It kills me every time when I have to drop them off every other week for a stretch of five days, and I have been getting anxiety attacks. I know they are well taken care of, I know they have fun there and don't even think about me, but it still sucks. Whenever I'm not with them, I'm at work, and I guess it's just been extra hard because I never had to be away from them as much as I have since becoming a nurse.  Fox brought this home from schoo...
