Back in March, Katie took the boys on vacation for spring break, so for the first time ever, I was away from them for a week straight. I knew this was going to be hard for me, so I decided to use this time to go on a little trip myself. It has always been my dream to see all of the States, so I really wanted to add some new States to my list. My friend Allison joined me on this trip and our first stop was Atlanta, Georgia.
I couldn't believe how cold it was! We were told that it was 70 degrees the previous weekend, but when we arrived it was 30 degrees with strong winds, so we opted for an indoor activity and visit the Coca Cola Hall of Fame, which I thought was super interesting.
We had some lunch, walked through Centennial Park and took a ride on the ferris wheel.
It was so scary to be up there. I'm not afraid of heights, but the ferris wheel was swaying in the wind, and we were both glad when the ride ended.
The next day we took a segway tour through the city, which was super fun. I had never been on one, and I thought it was a great way to see the city with a tour guide. We spent three nights in Atlanta, and honestly, I didn't love it at all. We didn't feel like there was a lot to do, and the cold certainly didn't help, so on day 3 we were both ready to hit the road for our next destination.
We rented a car, and I think this day was probably one of my favorite days of the trip. I love seeing how people live in other states, look at houses and the scenery.
Our second stop of the trip was Alabama!
We asked our Atlanta tour guide for some ideas on what to do in Alabama, and he recommended "Unclaimed Baggage", which is a store that buys unclaimed luggage from airports and sells the contents. It reminded me a lot of Goodwill, although much more expensive.
We had lunch at the cutest little restaurant, and the food was AMAZING!
Later that night we made it to our final destination: Nashville, Tennessee.
Our hotel was so nice (Holiday Inn Express), it was right in the middle of everything, they offered free breakfast and a happy hour with snacks, and every night a musician played in the lobby.
When in Nashville, you have to see the Grand Ole Opry, right?
We also visited the Country Music Hall of Fame.
We took two guided tours, one of Nashville, and one of Celebrity Homes. I really enjoyed the second one, simply because I love looking at houses and could do this all day long.
We walked around the city a lot, stopped in bars to eat and listen to music and people watched.
On our last day there, we had lunch at a rooftop bar, and the weather was beautiful.
It was a really relaxing trip overall, with good company, good food, and I was able to cross off three states of my bucket list! I already have an idea for my next trip, but I'm not sure when I will get some kid free time again. The boys and I have a lot of fun summer trips planned though, I'm excited!
