Bedroom Update

This project took me way longer than I thought it would be and unfortunately I don't even have any "before" pictures.
When Katie left, I slowly started to make changes around the house, mostly little things like swapping out pictures and installing an art wall for Fox's paintings. I knew that I needed to have a different vibe in my master bedroom, because it didn't feel great to be in there after the divorce, but I couldn't afford to buy all new furniture, so I kept my furniture and changed everything else.
I saw this wall paper on instagram and immediately fell in love. You either going to love it or hate it, so let me know what you think!

I had the bedroom painted, installed new baseboards, and then had the wallpaper professionally installed, because I was way too intimidated by doing it myself and possibly messing up. We never had a seating area in the bedroom, I still wonder if I should've gone with a couch instead, but I liked how the color of the chairs matched the wallpaper, so this is what I got.

I knew I wanted some "jumping on the bed" pictures for my bedroom, so I set up a photoshoot with our photographer back in January 2020 (yes, this project went on for a long time, it actually started in July 2019) and I purchased the prints from smallwoods.com.

I also added area rugs, curtains, the mirror, new bedding, pillows, shelves, and new lights. It felt like a fresh breath of air once it was all done and most of all, it felt like MY space. The process of being able to pick out every single item by myself, without having to ask for permission, was incredibly powerful and healing to me, especially when I started this room in the middle of our divorce back in 2019. And now that it's done, I can move on to something new...we'll see what that will be!

  3. Good for you, Nadine. It's such beautiful wall paper. We just finished decorating the master and created a seating area too, which I can tell you, you'll absolutely LOVE (here's a link https://theroybals.blogspot.com/2021/05/master-bedroom-gs-cozy-corner.html)

I'm soooo into home décor these days, so if you do more redecorating, be sure to post pics!

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

We took some family pictures this fall!

March iPhone dump

A look back at the month of March! Fox and I had a few hours to ourselves while Finn was at a birthday party, and he wanted to go shopping at Target and get some Starbucks. Sounds like my kind of date! This is where you can find him most days, playing games with his friends online, while simultaneously being on facetime with them. When did he get so big? Family game night outside! My sour patch kid. He told me he will still cuddle with me until he is 42...haha! I've been having a really hard time sharing parenting time lately. It kills me every time when I have to drop them off every other week for a stretch of five days, and I have been getting anxiety attacks. I know they are well taken care of, I know they have fun there and don't even think about me, but it still sucks. Whenever I'm not with them, I'm at work, and I guess it's just been extra hard because I never had to be away from them as much as I have since becoming a nurse.  Fox brought this home from schoo...
