Beach Trip

Every time I went to Long Beach with the boys, I always thought how fun it would be to come there by myself one day. To just relax, sleep and take long walks on the beach. At the beginning of March, I had a 3 day weekend, so I made it happen.

I took one of my friends, and one our first day there, we took a 3 mile bike ride down to the boardwalk and had the biggest funnel cake and ice cream. It was so good!

We came home, took a long nap, picked up some dinner and watched the sunset. It was lovely.

My mother in law wasn't home, so we had the entire house to ourselves. I even slept in her bed (with permission of course) and had the windows open to see and hear the waves crashing all night. It was amazing.

During our second day we took a VERY long walk to Retro Row, which is a street in Long Beach that has a lot of antique shops. It was an eight mile round trip, but I loved every second of it. The weather was amazing, we had brunch on the way, and the company was great as well.
I took another nap when we got home, followed by dinner and watching "Good Girls" for hours.
It was such a great trip, full of self care and relaxation. I'm hoping to be able to do this again sometime this summer. It's super fun to take my boys to the beach, but sometimes it's also very nice to go alone.

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

March iPhone dump

A look back at the month of March! Fox and I had a few hours to ourselves while Finn was at a birthday party, and he wanted to go shopping at Target and get some Starbucks. Sounds like my kind of date! This is where you can find him most days, playing games with his friends online, while simultaneously being on facetime with them. When did he get so big? Family game night outside! My sour patch kid. He told me he will still cuddle with me until he is 42...haha! I've been having a really hard time sharing parenting time lately. It kills me every time when I have to drop them off every other week for a stretch of five days, and I have been getting anxiety attacks. I know they are well taken care of, I know they have fun there and don't even think about me, but it still sucks. Whenever I'm not with them, I'm at work, and I guess it's just been extra hard because I never had to be away from them as much as I have since becoming a nurse.  Fox brought this home from schoo...
