California Trip

A few weeks ago Katie's parents invited us to join them for a short trip to California. Grandpa always wanted to take Fox to Knott's Berry Farm because Fox loves Charlie Brown and the Peanuts, so that is what we did.

I've never been there and it had been over a decade (or two) since Katie had been. The weather was perfect and it was nice to get out of the Phoenix heat for a few days.

Surprisingly, the lines were super long, Disneyland Style long to be exact.

This kid doesn't need amusement parks, all he ever wants to do is to play with Grandpa and these two had a blast!

Until someone boarded the train before him and he "lost" the race. It's hard to be (almost) three!

What I didn't like about Knott's Berry Farm is that there weren't many rides you could do as a family. I mean, I guess we could've all squeezed onto Peppermint Patty's Truck, but we didn't.

We saw a cheesy show where all of us, but Fox, got sunburned. We made sure he had sunscreen, but didn't think about putting any on us.

That night, we drove down to San Diego, where we spent the next two nights. This was the view from our room.

We went to the Marina for a little bit and booked a tour.

This was one of those tours, where you ride in a bus and then you drive straight into the water and the bus becomes a boat. We drove out to see some seals.

Afterwards, we went to Balboa Park and took a little walk on one of their trails.

We ended the night with dinner to celebrate Katie's parent's 28th wedding anniversary.
It was a super short trip, but it was nice to get out and Fox had a lot of fun.

  1. That looks like a lot of fun. I love how Fox looks with shades on. Very stylish. :)

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

We took some family pictures this fall!

March iPhone dump

A look back at the month of March! Fox and I had a few hours to ourselves while Finn was at a birthday party, and he wanted to go shopping at Target and get some Starbucks. Sounds like my kind of date! This is where you can find him most days, playing games with his friends online, while simultaneously being on facetime with them. When did he get so big? Family game night outside! My sour patch kid. He told me he will still cuddle with me until he is 42...haha! I've been having a really hard time sharing parenting time lately. It kills me every time when I have to drop them off every other week for a stretch of five days, and I have been getting anxiety attacks. I know they are well taken care of, I know they have fun there and don't even think about me, but it still sucks. Whenever I'm not with them, I'm at work, and I guess it's just been extra hard because I never had to be away from them as much as I have since becoming a nurse.  Fox brought this home from schoo...
