Fox | 22 Month Update

Health:
He was great this month!

Nicknames:
Bubba, Turkey, Schatzi, Bubbles, Mr. Fox, Foxy, Pumpkin, Poodle, Bossy

Eating:
Same as usual! He usually doesn’t want to try anything new, you could put a piece of chocolate on his plate and he would make a face without trying it and telling us it needed to get off his plate.

Teething:
No new teeth this month, he has 16 now. Scared about those 2 year molars.

Sleeping:
Sleep was kind of hit and miss this month. While he still sleeps through the night fine, he would wake up super early (like between 5 and 5:30am), so we decided to only let him nap two hours during the day now (he would sleep 3-4 if we let him) to help improve his night time sleep, which has helped.
We also tried to put him down 30 minutes earlier at night (at 7:30pm instead of 8pm), since we heard that this should help with him sleeping longer in the mornings as well. We are still trying this out, since we don’t always make it at 7:30pm, we are having way too much fun playing with him at night and then we have dinner, bath and story time and boom…it’s 8pm. Trying to get better about this.
Naps were kind of weird too, some days he falls asleep right away and some days it takes him an hour to fall asleep, because he is way too busy playing in his crib.
He still has a certain routine he needs to have followed in order to go to bed. After books we brush his teeth, then he wants a family hug and then we need to sing “Barney Ball” (which is a totally made up song and all three of us, Katie, Hannah and myself, sing different versions of it. He prefers that Katie sings to him at night…I guess he likes her version best…haha.
He still tries to do whatever it takes to keep us in his room longer, one more song, blanket, rub his back. His newest add on to this routine is to tell us that he will cry when we leave. It is so funny! He even has the “fake cry” down to a T.

Diapers:
Size 4

Clothing:
24 months Shirts and 18 months pants, Size 6 Shoe

Social:
He is very empathetic and emotional. He gets very upset and worried when someone gets hurt (even if it’s on TV) and always makes sure his family is okay. When one of us gets hurt or randomly mentioned that something hurts, he will give us a kiss and pats the area. He is so sweet!
He also loves playing with other kids now and talks to us about his friends and what they did that day.

Language:
I love that we can have “real” conversations with him now. He uses more and more German words each day, but still mostly speaks English. We met a new German friend this month (she’s the same age as Fox) and we hope they’ll speak German to each other one day.
The things he says are so funny. When he is done with a book, he either says “Next” or “Goodbye”, I crack up every time! His favorite phrase is “This right there” he repeats it over and over and over again, when he wants something.
He also started saying “Hey guys”, which is funny, because neither of us says that, so we don’t know where he got that from!
Our favorite this month is him saying “I Love you”, cutest thing ever!

Likes:
Being outside, bigger kids, Cosie, baths in his mommies bath tub (with colors and bubbles), being the center of attention, watching videos of himself, playing hide and seek, playing soccer, baseball and basketball, being independent, reading books (his favorites this month are all Curious George Books and the Finding Waldo Series), balls, riding those mechanical cars in the mall, climbing, playing Mini Golf and Hockey, playing Cars, Carousels, drinking out of a big cup with a straw, Tackling us, the Zoo, Gymboree, watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sofia the First or Barney, Soccer Class, reading books in Mama’s bed, his bounce house, his Mickey and Minnie Mouse stuffed animals, his blanket, Stickers, painting, play-doh, helping mommy make coffee on his kitchen tower, being dragged around on a blanket through the house, giving Cosie treats, playgrounds, driving a golf cart with Uncle Robert

Dislikes:
Putting lotion on after his bath, when we don’t allow him to do something, when we go inside after playing outside, trying new foods, when someone he loves gets hurt, diaper changes, long car rides, washing his hair, going anywhere that is not home (he is a total homebody and never wants to leave the house, once we get somewhere he has fun, but if we tell him we are leaving, he keeps saying no and “house”, meaning he wants to stay home)

Fun things we did:
Swim Class (still loves it), Soccer Class and Gymboree, we took his Easter Pictures and had a lot of fun spending our weekends at the park or playground.

Milestones:
He is getting really good at his colors. Still counting to 3, but always counts like this: 1, 2, 3, F, O, X
He can spell his name, but often forget the “F”. He still can’t say “F” and calls himself “Socks” or “Soxy”.
We also enrolled him into preschool this month! I really can’t believe we are already there! Crazy! He will start in September, going two mornings a week and then increase to five days in January, when Hannah goes back to Germany! And fun fact: He will go to the same private school his Uncle Christian attended all the way from preschool to high school!

What we’re looking forward to:
Celebrating Easter, coloring eggs and doing an easter egg hunt for the first time with Fox!

April phone dump

Some more pictures of our April. He's my bed hog, but I love sharing the bed with him and the way he comes find me in his sleep to snuggle up to me. Work Crew! Easter Preparations...it took me a solid hour to fill all the eggs. Finn chipped his permanent front tooth, and had to get it fixed. He was so brave. I tried to hold his hand to let him know I was there, and he kept giving me a thumbs up. Reading in bed with them is my favorite. We went to play mini golf, and it was an absolutely shit show. Just look at Finn in the background, he was on fire on this day. That's his "cool face". Not pictured are all the times he melted down because he wasn't "good enough". I really need to stop playing this game with him, because it happens every single time...haha.  Book Club! I wasn't a fan of the book, but it was great getting out and talking about books with other readers. He got into kinetic sand for a few weeks, and I felt like my floors were covered in s...

July iPhone dump

The rest of our July in pictures! Movie date with the boys! I took Finn and his best friend to the Aquarium one day, while Fox was at the allergist with Katie. They both had a blast. Trying to touch the sting rays... Sweet brotherly moment at a play place. One of my patients made this for me, and it made my day. It's now hanging from the mirror in my car, as a reminder how fragile life is. This kid kills me with his watermelons. He always wants to buy them, so he can help me cut them, but then won't eat them. When I pointed this out to him, he simply replied that I could take the watermelon to my co-workers again because they love it when I do.  Fox told me he is allergic to Goodwill and puts on this big act whenever I make them go. His throat starts to be itchy and he can't breathe. We might have to get him tested again...hahaha. We visited a lot of play places this summer to stay out of the heat. This was at a library and the kids played with this lite-brite forever. Finn...

We took some family pictures this fall!
