Nursery Tour

Planning the nursery was one of the most exciting things for me this pregnancy. I had ideas "pinned" on pinterest for years, but we didn't decide on a definite theme until we knew the gender. I also wanted to make sure to get Katie involved in the decisions and process as much as possible and I'm so glad I had her support!
We decided on a "Woodland" Theme for the Nursery and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.

I originally made the wreath for our baby shower and it's now hanging on his door.

Katie bought this picture YEARS ago. I never thought we would use it for the nursery, but it turned out to be a perfect fit!

Some Hangers for his jackets or backpack (when he is older) that we found at Anthropologie.

These closet doorknobs are also from Anthropologie and they're sleeping foxes. Love them!

Here's a close-up of the knob.

Hier ist eine Nahaufnahme von dem Knopf.

This little moose rocking horse came from IKEA and we got it from Katie's parents for Christmas.

His closet

Sein Schrank

This kid has more clothes than me! Can you tell that we love stripes?

Das Kind hat mehr Klamotten als ich! Koennt ihr sehen, dass wir Streifen lieben?

The other side of his closet

Die andere Seite von seinem Schrank

The moose mirror/picture was a Christmas gift from Katie's sister and I believe she got it at Z Gallery. We bought the toy basket at Target.

The wall letters are also from Anthropologie and I made the mobile with stuffed animals from Target (they were Christmas Ornaments) and a wreath from Hobby Lobby.

The tree log (where his diapers are stored on the changing table) is one of my favorite things! We found it at Anthropologie (can you sense a theme here? Haha) and it fits perfect.

The lamp and owls are from Hobby Lobby, the stuffed animal fox from Scentsy (you can put a scent pack in his back) and the orange jar with the fox is from Target.

One side of his room. I'm in love with these picture ledges where we placed some of his books, they came from IKEA. If Katie would've let me, the entire wall would've been covered in books...haha.

Pillows on his window seat. Katie found them at One Kings Lane.

The owl is actually a Scentsy Lamp, his eyes light up and you can put a scent in the top. The wooden blocks came from Etsy.

I've seen these birdhouse lamps on pinterest, but they were $40 or more if you buy them online, so I decided to make my own (with the help of Katie and Patrick). You can buy the birdhouse at Hobby Lobby for around $4 and we got the plug at Home Depot for around $5. Patrick drilled a hole in the back, so we could put the plug in and Katie painted it white. I love it!

The stuffed animal fox is from Anthropologie (we bought it like 2 years ago!) and the three owls are from Z Gallery (Christmas Gift from Ashlie).

Lets just say, putting up the tree decal (from amazon) was not fun! It took six hours and two people (Thanks Patrick - we couldn't have done it without you!), but in the end it was so worth it! Katie wasn't sure about the deer decals, but loves them now.

The crib and the mobile came from Babies R Us

Das Bett und das Mobile sind von Babies R Us

Rene' bought all of the white dressers and night stand at Living Spaces and the glider and ottoman is from Target.
Katie found the rug on One Kings Lane.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of our nursery!

  3. OMG, I have the biggest case of nursery envy ever!!! It's absolutely gorgeous and you can see the amount of work and love that has gone into planning it and making it just perfect.

At first, while still in my tiny 1 bedroom apartment in London, the baby will just have a co sleeper next to my bed. Then when we move in with my partner, baby will have her own room, which will also have to double as the guest room.
Most rentals here come furnished, so we can't personalize the décor, might change the curtains and hang a couple of pictures, but that's about it really. I too love the woodland/owl/fox theme and have purchased a couple of small trinkets already.

I've been eyeing up a few items from the Skip Hop Woodland range, including the treetop activity gym, it's stunning!

  6. Bravo mamas! The nursery looks absolutely amazing down to every last detail. I love the wall decals and the deer are awesome too. We went with a woodland nursery theme complete with bird houses as well, only it was the girly version so I'm obviously a big fan of this motif. I honestly think this nursery could go in a magazine. :)

  7. Love your nursery! We just finished putting up decals in our woodland themed nursery this weekend for our little girl due in July. Similar birch trees but dark brown with owls, butterflies and leaves). How long ago did you get the tree log from Anthropologie for the diapers? I absolutely love it!!

    1. Thank you! We got the tree log in December. They were in the clearance section and they had different sizes and shapes. We went back about a week later to get more and they were gone! We should've bought more when we got the first, they were only $10!

  9. Oh my gosh this nursery! It is so darn beautiful. I'm not going to lie that it actually gives me the twinge of wanting another little one JUST so I can decorate a nursery. It really really turned out beautifully!

August iPhone dump

A few of my favorite moments from August! Meet the teacher for the boys! I received this picture from Katie's wife, such a sweet bond they have. I'm also loving how his pajamas are inside out...haha. Walter came back to spend a few days with us! We watched him last summer, and the boys kept talking about him, so we were all so excited when his mom asked us to watch him for a few days. Notice Finn pouting. He was upset that Walter "only pays attention to Fox". So many big emotions in such a tiny body. Mr. Cool Guy at his dentist check up and teeth cleaning! I was trying to get some work done in my office, but this guy needed some attention. Finn made a bed for them, so they could sleep together. In the end, no one wanted to sleep there, but he was so happy to cuddle with Walter for a bit. My friend got me some comedy tickets to see "Nurse John", so I invited my two besties, and two of my old classmates, and we had a blast, he was so funny. We even got VIP acc...

May iPhone dump

Some of my favorite moments of May that haven't made it on the blog yet. May has been such an incredible month and I wish I could turn back time and do it all over again. Between graduating from nursing school and all the celebrations that came with that, Fox's 10th birthday, Finn's Kindergarten graduation, and all the sweet little moments in between, it was a month I will never forget.  Kindergarten Homework for this cutie, he is very smart, but hates doing it. This was my favorite view at school, right when you exited the building. This was the place where we met up with friends during breaks, and after every exam, and I wanted to take a picture to remember this special place.  Making paper airplanes has been a new favorite for him. This was two days before I took my final exam, and I probably should've been studying, but having an ice cream date with the boys sounded much more fun. He loves to make us laugh. While Finn and I were getting ready for bed, I asked him to...

December iPhone dump

December came and went in a flash! We visited Santa! I started a new job in November as a patient care technician in the Oncology unit at the hospital I'm hoping to get hired by after I graduate. I have heard from many people that this hospital usually hires nurses from within, so I wanted to get my foot in the door, and also gain some more experience before graduating. I was really nervous about handling two 12 hour days per week, on top of school and sharing custody of the kids, and while it hasn't been easy, it has been very rewarding. I love the unit I'm on, the patients, the people I work with, and it's a very humbling experience to work in Oncology.  I took a screen shot of my activity after one of my shifts, I usually average between 7.5-9.5 miles per day, just from walking all over the unit.  The boys are playing bar with their cousin at Grandma's house.  We celebrated their cousin's first birthday! S'mores in the backyard. Nikolaus (a german traditi...
