Week 29

February 22nd, 2014 How far along: 29 weeks Baby is the size of a: Butternut Squash Total weight gain: 20+ lbs  Maternity Clothes? I caved in and bought myself some clothes this week. A maternity shirt, a nursing tank and a nursing bra. I probably need some more T-Shirts for when it gets really hot and I’m still looking for that perfect nightgown for the hospital. I also have no idea what to wear for our maternity photo shoot...any input? Stretch Marks? No new ones. I can’t even find the one on my backside anymore, which is probably for the best! Sleep? Terrible this week! I can deal with the trips to the bathroom, but I’ve been having horrible backaches and can’t get comfortable. It feels like I have a pinched nerve and it only hurts on the right side of my back. Best moment of the Week: Taking some baby classes with Katie and buying some cute outfits for the little one...we just can’t hel...

Katie & Nadine in 2014: Week 8

Day 50 Another Doctor's Appointment where we got to see our boo! My favorite days! The office has a huge flatscreen on the wall across from me, which is awesome! Ein weiterer Arzttermin, wo wir unseren kleinen Mann bewundern konnten! Ich liebe solche Tage! Die Arztpraxis hat einen riesigen Flachbildschirm an der Wand gegenueber von mir haengen, was super ist!  Day 51 Getting a bunch of Etsy Orders in the mail. Ein paar meiner Etsy Bestellungen haben es zum Briefkasten geschafft. Day 52 Dinner with Katie's brother and stepmom. Cosie LOVES his grandma Sandie! Abendessen mit Katie's Bruder und Stiefmutter. Cosie LIEBT seine Oma Sandie ! Day 53 Another free baby class at Babies R Us, this one was called "Baby Basics" and we liked it a lot. Tomorrow we're attending another class about Babyproofing your house! Ein weiterer kostenloser Babykurs bei Babies R Us, dieser nannte sich "Baby Grundlagen" und wir mocht...

The Never Ending List

The closer we get to the birth, the more I start to panic.  I guess it all started with me counting down the months...five more months...four...three...OMG, only 11 more weeks! Of course, we're ecstatic and couldn't be more excited about the upcoming arrival of our son, but at the same time, I start freaking out. Not just about labor and delivery, but also about what happens when they let us go home with a brand new baby! I feel like we're not prepared enough, that we don't know enough, even though I was a nanny for many, many years and have plenty of experience with newborns. After all, this is OUR newborn we're talking about here! I know we'll make mistakes and we'll learn as we go, but some days it feels very overwhelming. People always tell me to enjoy the pregnancy, after all, these are my last weeks where I can do whatever I want to do, but most days I feel like I'm running a marathon, trying to catch up with my to-do list. And the moment I don...

Week 28

February 15th, 2014 How far along: 28 weeks Baby is the size of an: Eggplant! We had our doctor’s appointment today and our little boy weighs 2lbs, 12oz! Some days I can’t believe that I have an almost 3lb baby in there! Total weight gain: I got weighed at the doctor today and gained a total of 20lbs so far. Eeks!  Maternity Clothes? Still having the same troubles as last week! Stretch Marks? No new ones.   Sleep? Sleep is getting harder. I’m back to using the bathroom in the middle of the night and some nights I’m really hurting. My stomach gets crampy, my back hurts and my mind is racing, thinking about everything that I still need to do and what’s about to come in three short months! Best moment of the Week: We had an ultrasound today and Baby J was so cute! We saw him kick, yawn and rub his eyes! We’re already so in love with our little one! Movement: Constantly! His kicks are definitely getting stronger and my stom...

Katie & Nadine in 2014: Week 7

Day 43 I've been looking for pillows for our nursery window seat FOREVER. I was getting so frustrated because I didn't find anything I liked, or they were like $50 per pillow, which I definitely wasn't willing to spend.  Katie surprised me and just bought these four pillows for us and I absolutely love them! One of the small ones has a Dr. Seuss quote on it and the other says: "I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart".  She is so amazing and me and baby J are so lucky to have her! I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart...

Week 27

February 8th, 2014 How far along: 27 weeks Baby is the size of a: Rutabaga. Seems smaller than last week...these fruit and vegetable comparisons are weird sometimes! :) Total weight gain: No idea and I’m too scared to step on my crappy scale! Next doctor’s appointment is next week. Maternity Clothes? I really don’t want to buy more maternity clothes that I will only wear for three more months, but finding clothes in my closet becomes more and more of a challenge these days! Stretch Marks? No new ones.   Sleep? I’m still sleeping through the night most days and don’t have to go to the bathroom, which is awesome. Last night though, I woke up in a lot of pain, I can’t even describe it. A combination of tightness in my stomach and cramps. It freaked me out at first, but Katie thought it was probably just my uterus expanding? I wasn’t bleeding and felt better after a while, so hopefully it was nothing to be concerned about. Best moment of the ...
