My Once Upon a Time...

Friday, July 20th was a special day. It was the day I became American. I've waited for this day for five years and since I had to apply for dual citizenship before I could actually apply for the American one, the whole process took a little over a year from start to finish. The Ceremony was relatively short, a Federal Judge took our oath, we all said the Pledge of Allegiance, watched a video with a message from President Obama, we sang the National Anthem and the Ceremony ended with the song "Proud to be an American". If you ever thought you had great co-workers, you obviously haven't met mine. I have the best co-worker, hands down. My co-worker Sandi is one of the most sweetest, generous and thoughtful person I have ever met. I can't even describe how big her heart is. She calls herself my "American Mom" (even though she is way too young to be my mom) and I feel so blessed to have her in my life and for everything she does for us. When I'm sick, she brings me medicine, and if there is none available to her at that time, she will go out to the pharmacy to get me some. It's impossible to count all of the times she has brought me lunch, just because she thought I would like something she had cooked at home. So sweet. Katie and I were thinking about getting a Costco Membership and had been borrowing her membership card every time we needed to go.
