Snow Day

My friend Kristy always has the best ideas to go on little day adventures, so one day in January, she asked me if the boys and I wanted to join her and her son for a weekend in the snow. We met up at a snow park about two hours from home and the weather was beautiful!

Finn only went down the hill in the tube with me once, I think he was a little scared, although he would never admit hat...ha!

You can see the tiny hill in the background, Kristy took the bog boys another time, and they chose to play in the snow afterwards as well, and didn't want to try any of the bigger hills.

Kristy had been to the snow park before and told me that we could make s'mores there, so we brought everything we needed to let the boys roast some marshmallows.

Just for the record, Fox totally had a snow jacket, but refused to wear it because he claimed being too hot in it. And no, we didn't make this snowman.

This snow fort was the highlight of the day. The boys played in it for about two hours and it was hard getting them to leave when the sun went down and we had to go get dinner. I loved seeing their creativity and enjoying something in nature, vs. asking to play video games.

Finn found a little igloo.

When we left the snow park that night, Fox said to me: “This is the most fun I’ve ever had in my life!”

We had (a crazy and loud) dinner at the hotel together, and then went up to the room to relax and catch up.
The hotel still had their outside Christmas lights up, and this was the view from our window when we woke up the next day.

We went for a little walk in the woods behind the hotel, and I was so surprised how much fun the kids had, even though there was nothing special to do.

This kid has the best faces!

We left around lunch time to go back home, and Phoenix awaited us with 75 degrees and sunshine. It's so crazy to me to be able to play in the snow in the morning, and then drive two hours and being able to be in shorts and a T-shirt. I love our state!

August iPhone dump

A few of my favorite moments from August! Meet the teacher for the boys! I received this picture from Katie's wife, such a sweet bond they have. I'm also loving how his pajamas are inside out...haha. Walter came back to spend a few days with us! We watched him last summer, and the boys kept talking about him, so we were all so excited when his mom asked us to watch him for a few days. Notice Finn pouting. He was upset that Walter "only pays attention to Fox". So many big emotions in such a tiny body. Mr. Cool Guy at his dentist check up and teeth cleaning! I was trying to get some work done in my office, but this guy needed some attention. Finn made a bed for them, so they could sleep together. In the end, no one wanted to sleep there, but he was so happy to cuddle with Walter for a bit. My friend got me some comedy tickets to see "Nurse John", so I invited my two besties, and two of my old classmates, and we had a blast, he was so funny. We even got VIP acc...

May iPhone dump

Some of my favorite moments of May that haven't made it on the blog yet. May has been such an incredible month and I wish I could turn back time and do it all over again. Between graduating from nursing school and all the celebrations that came with that, Fox's 10th birthday, Finn's Kindergarten graduation, and all the sweet little moments in between, it was a month I will never forget.  Kindergarten Homework for this cutie, he is very smart, but hates doing it. This was my favorite view at school, right when you exited the building. This was the place where we met up with friends during breaks, and after every exam, and I wanted to take a picture to remember this special place.  Making paper airplanes has been a new favorite for him. This was two days before I took my final exam, and I probably should've been studying, but having an ice cream date with the boys sounded much more fun. He loves to make us laugh. While Finn and I were getting ready for bed, I asked him to...

Graduation Party

My mother in law Rene' and my friend Allison threw me a graduation brunch the day after I got pinned as a nurse. I love this picture of Patrick. My other (ex) mother in law made this incredible cake for me, she is so talented. My sweet friend Mason. We spent our first year in nursing school together, until he decided to go a different route. We still meet up for brunches and he is also my hairdresser, but I still miss seeing him as much as I used to. It meant a lot to me that he came.  I can't even express how loved I felt on this day. I am one lucky girl to be surrounded by so many amazing friends who have been through it all with me. Ten years of friendship this year! Katie and Christina brought the boys and also attended my party, which I really appreciated. Classmates! I was joking that the next time I will receive this many flowers, it'll be my funeral. I also received so many thoughtful and sweet cards and gifts, I was truly spoiled. It was the perfect ending to an em...
