Germany

To be completely honest, I was terrified of going to Germany after the wedding. If it wasn't for the wedding and being so close to Germany, I wouldn't have gone. My last trip there two years ago burned me bad. It was one of the worst experiences for me and I swore I wasn't going to do that to myself again. A little dramatic? Maybe. But definitely not what I call a vacation.

Luckily, we had survived the jet lag in France and it wasn't bad, but I was still worried about his eating situation in Germany, especially since he has so many allergies now and is very picky on top of it. Katie wasn't coming with us, she had planned a solo cruise during the time we were in Germany, so when we were driving to the airport, I gave myself a big pep talk. I needed it.

The flight went well, but when we arrived in Germany Fox started to freak out. One of my family members - not to name any names- was too pushy on him at the airport and he got very shy and uncomfortable. I don't blame him, he hasn't seen these people in two years and for all he knows, they're strangers, trying to kiss and hug on him.
He fell asleep in the car on the way home, which was the beginning of the end...let's just say we had a bad start there.

Thanks to that nap, he didn't go to sleep until 1am that night. It went something like this:

Fox's monologue at 1am...after laying in bed for the last two hours with no sleep in sight:
- I want it to be light out
- I want to play
- I'm scared
- Does everybody in the world have a dog?
- I have a good idea...let's get ice cream tomorrow!
- I need you Mama!
- What did Mommy call me the other day...nervous wreck?
- Night time and sleep is boring!
- I'm hungry
- I love you Mama, I love you, I love you, I love you...
- Something is bothering me
- I think it's a little bit rude that the people outside are talking
Luckily, he was much more trusting towards my family than he was two years ago. Although, the part that was funny was, that every morning, it was like he didn't know my mom anymore. They were best friends and playing together every night, then he would wake up and not remember any of it and act shy, so she had to work hard all day long to gain his trust again. It was like the movie "50 first dates".

Playing some soccer with my little brother.
The weather was weird there, one day we would be wearing our winter clothes and the next it would be blazing hot, and so on. Luckily I had packed for all occasions, because I remembered that kind of weather too well.

My mom and I took Fox to a nearby playground. European playgrounds are just amazing, nothing like anything I know from the States, you will see what I mean in some of my coming posts!

They had a mud area there as well and Fox loved it.

Obviously he was soaked after a few minutes and I only brought a change of summer clothes, but it wasn't too cold, so it worked out.

We went to the same petting zoo we had been to two years ago and he really enjoyed feeding all of the animals.

It was a good first day that we ended with playing in the yard in jammies!
